Agree with all of that. Classic King Seikos are fantastic... Many had full balance bridges before they were cool. I always wonder what's keeping manufacturers today from just recreating those old movements with modern materials.

1985 Seiko 6309, with a bunch of mods. 12 hr bezel, Forstner J bracelet on random end links, and aftermarket dial and hands. Serviced, pressure tested, and ready to go for another few decades.

The 80's we're pretty good for Seikos.

The Tag Heuer 1887 movement is a hidden gem. It's more honest than the Val Fleurier, Kennisi, and various glorified modified ETA designs that pass for "in house" today.

The general Tag Heuer hate is mostly from folks who parrot tired social media hot takes.

Seiko drive watch reissue asking prices are fair because the designs are iconic and these things sell out for a reason.

Please tell me more about that Heuer! Cathedral hands, made in France?

For those saying "All the bashers would go buy a Rolex if they were available", I offer a counterpoint.

About 5 years ago, when many now-scarce Rolex models were plenty available at retail prices, I opted for other brands. Had many chances to get the white OP, explorer dial OP, Milgauss at retail from an AD, neo-vintage explorer 2's at under 5k, etc. However, I still opted to buy new Tudor, neo-vintage Tag Heuer, and Grand Seiko because that was more interesting to me.

That wouldn't change if Rolex was more available today. Honestly with all of the other baggage surrounding Rolex that Max mentioned, along with the sheer commonality of certain models noted by LeoTam99...my interest in the brand has dropped further.

There are just too many other interesting watches out there for me to allocate resources towards Rolex...unless there was a quick buck to be made. And I imagine that's actually more common that the "repressed love for Rolex" perspective offered by a few folks here.

You just convinced me to try the Forsnter BBGMT jubilee.  I liked that the clasp has more micro adjust and twin trigger release.  But really wish it had an option for all brushed, like the Uncle Seiko.

My LE Carrera on an Uncle Seiko flat link.  Felt right to match the bracelet with the movement.
