Seiko SPB143 vs Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo

Hey guys,

I am currently looking for an affordable diver that can be worn on a nato strap.

I am torn between the SPB143 and the Promaster Fujitsubo.

The Seiko is around 250EUR more expensive but I generally like the styling of the case a bit more.

The Citizen is made from Titanium, hence lighter ans I find the dial to be more attractive.

Which one would you go for?

Tough call. Both great watches that would fit your needs. I have a 143 and love it. But I would also take a Fujitsibo and be very happy. Either way you can’t go wrong

·

seiko looks more dress diver so its seiko for me

·

Don’t think you can lose, both are wins. Personally I prefer the Seiko hands.

·

Seiko any day - and SPB143 is one of their most beautiful watches

I am not a huge fan of the mercedes style hands as well... Reminds me too much on Rolex

for sure on of the best looking Seiko's

·

I'm going with the Citizen. Whilst the Seiko is a very good watch, I don't feel it is worth the premium over the Promaster.

Also, the titanium case will make the Citizen more comfortable on the wrist and I prefer its dial.

·

As already mentioned, both are beautiful. IMO it comes down to either liking the heft of a steel case or a super light watch on wrist. Inam addicted to watches. I love both steel or Titanium

·

I have the citizen and I'm very happy with it

I am a Seiko guy

I like it just fine. There’s a lot of hate out there for it, but for me it’s great.

·

Seiko.

Citizen always are a bit off for me. Don't like Titanium or hour hand.

Seiko just do it a bit better for me.

·

I like the Citizen Promaster Fujitsu better IMO - the bezel looks sharper and like the use of titanium for the case.

·

I dig the retro look of the citizen

·

This Citizen has quite poor bezel action. You shlould check it in hand before making a call

The seiko feels more substantial on wrist. The SPB143 costs around 1200 USD and the way it feels on wrist, that price makes sense (subjectively so). The Citizen pro diver retails at 985 USD (I believe) and it feels like it could cost alot less. I say that because of the crown size, the clasp, and the bezel's action vs the seiko. Now that isnt a bad thing for me because I bought my pro diver for about $500 less then the retail, and at that price it feels right on par. Had I paid retail for the pro diver, I may have regretted that purchase.

thanks for the feedback!

great call, thank you!

I was supprised how loose it is. It was a dealbreaker for me. But it clicks so many boxes that I’m not supprised how many people buy it

I am an absolute Seiko fanboy, but…. There is something about that Citizen. Can’t put my finger on why but it’s really something special.

·

Seiko for me

I agree! Love the Seiko but tried on the citizen a couple of months ago and I’ve been trying to talk myself out of it since. I was surprised at how well it wore and how right it looked. Definitely two watches that should be tried on before purchasing.

·

Both nice, Seiko wins hear for me. It's just a bit more refined

·

Although i like titanium its the Seiko all day for me

·

I have that Seiko, and I think it’s overpriced. Gotta go with Citizen between these 2

valuable feedback! Thank you

·

I seen the sekio and I like the look and feel. Haven't seen thr citizen yet myself but titanium is not my thing.

·

I like both brands, and love Ti. But looking at the pics my eyes pull to the seiko every time

Also, the Rolex hands are meh, IMHO.

Seiko FTW 🙌

BTW the weight will be near non issue on nato, most of the weight is in the bracelet!

I'm both a Seiko and Citizen fan and I went for the Fujitsubo. The bezel action is great IMO, but different to a steel watch for sure. The movement is better, the material is better (for my needs), the brand has less QC issues and the looks are pretty much on par. You can't lose with either - each has its advantages but the Seiko advantages seemed less objective to me.

The Fujitsubo is a very good watch for the price
