Seiko SARV001 - yes, the watch I'm always recommending

I've recommended SARV001 so many times on this forum (and it's brother SARV003 which has a black dial), that I thought it's probably time to just stick my flag in the sand and do a proper post on it.

SARV001 is a JDM Seiko. Has day/date including Kanji, as you can see.

42mm diameter, but it doesn't feel huge. Admittedly I have a large wrist but, even so, I have similar watches that 'feel' larger.

Comes on a bracelet, but I have so many watches already on bracelets, and I love NATOs, so I put it on a fun, patterned NATO, which I feel has an Asian sort of design vibe to it.

You will find this all day long from Japanese resellers for under US$200. I saw it at US$170 just recently.

For the money, I think this watch is a knock-out. It's not a Seiko 5, so isn't screaming, "I'm budget!" yet it is budget.

It looks great. People would easily think it's a more expensive watch.

Why this watch hasn't been on every YouTube channel by now, as an affordable, really handsome watch (let alone a cool, JDM watch), I have no idea. I've yet to see anyone feature it, and I believe it's been out for some time. It's a very underrated watch.

Damn! Gotta be one of the few remaining watch bargains. It looks sesational (except for the strap).

Great choice, thanks for putting this on on my radar.

There is a rotor sticker you can get on Ali that looks a lot like that strap.

Straps are subjective, so here's SARV001 and 003 with their bracelets. I've got a great shot of it on a beads of rice band, too. I'll post in a moment.

When grabbing these images, I noticed one well known Japanese reseller has it at $166. It's getting cheaper! LOL.

And here it is on a beads of rice bracelet. Again, looks WAY more expensive than it is.

Bracelet is a bit average. I reckon this watch deserves a good leather strap.

Hey that watch is gorgeous but please tell me where you got that strap. I love it. It’s doing something different and I love that its not just another plain blue nato!

And if he shows it on a leather strap you will say:  "Have you tried it on duct tape or a bit of twine?"

Never seen this watch before? I have to agree looks far more expensive than it is. Great value especially now for a seiko. I'm looking it up now!

It’s a really cool watch for allmost every occasion. can‘t decide if i prefere the black or the white version, but both are wearable with all kinds of straps.

Here‘s measurements of mine. Smaller than what you’ve heard. And I think the lugs taper nicely, myself.

Thank you for your reply that’s a very tempting prospect now I know it’s 48.6 I’m also looking at the SARY051/55 which is in the Presage line, similar look but twice the price. I’ve found that when you get a cheaper version of a watch you desire, you never feel satisfied and end up regretting.

what a bloody hobby!

Yes, it’s the reason I traded up from a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage (with its 3-6-9 dial and vintage feel), to a Tudor Heritage Ranger within a year.

What is this bracelet? I want to upgrade the stock one (I love this watch). I am not a fan of the stock bracelet (prefer a taper)

As mentioned in my comment that’s a beads of rice bracelet. I’m not entirely sure what brand as the image isn’t mine.

I’ve found one that fits a Seiko 5. The case/lugs look very similar. Did you search “Seiko beads of rice” bracelet? How much$. I’ve found one for 100$

No, if anything, I would have been searching for SARV001 and I simply came across an image of one with a beads of rice bracelet. If you want to find where it's from, try dragging the image into Google images and it might find the page it's from.

This looks amazing! Did you change the hands? They look a little lighter in colour. Also, where is that strap from? if you don't mind me asking...

This is my first watch and I love it. I am into mechanical devices and I saw a Cocktail Time and I wanted it, but didn't want to drop $400 to learn I don't enjoy wearing a watch. I saw this for half the price and ordered it from Japan. Way nicer than I expected. I have a small wrist and it fits great. Only flaw I can find is that the lume doesn't last very long. I almost want to order a second one to wear to work that can get beat up.

I searched Amazon for a 22mm red leather watch strap. Sorry for late reply. It has a steel butterfly clasp as well.
