Invicta is not the worst

Invicta is over hated, I said it. They do have some watches that have great value for what it is. Unfortunately a big reason for the hate is when they got bought out,the company started making big hideous watches! However if you look past that they still make very good watches, nothing revolutionary I’ll admit, but still decent.

This one fits nicely.

They do make some decent watches on occasion. The early Pro Divers, Ocean Ghosts, Speedways were good watches as are some current models like the 1953 Diver. If you look back 20 or so years you'll find the most of the "hate" is for their many misleading or outright lies they have spewed, often straight from the CEO's mouth live on TV .

Fake sandstone dials, fake meteorite dials, fake MOP, false claims of Swiss Made have all been documented and proven over the years.

In many cases the product is sub-standard, but it is the shady business model that has caused most of the hate. Check out their current warranty service that charges a 28 dollar "evaluation fee" for watch service under warranty.

BTW-the model you show that mimics the many "surf board" chronos isn't a chrono (as I'm sure you are aware) It's more of a second timezone model with the pushers adjusting the 24 hour subdial at the 9. The other subdial only acts as an AM/PM indicator and isn't independent of the set time.

I agree. However, I have seen the "state of the collection" of a Youtuber a couple of months ago (one of the "recommended by TGV") and most of what he had were Invictas, mostly the ones who are not generally appreciated amongst "enthusiasts", Still, his passion about them and how he loved wearing them in "this or this" situation made me appreciate them a little more.

Owning a Pro Diver for several years now, last weekend I actually recommended the "Grand Diver" to my brother in law who wanted a first automatic watch, a diver, and with a yellow dial (his favourite colour). He's over the moon with his new acquisition, which fits him well (he has a strong "build") and even the rotor in the see-through case back is yellow.

Be careful about using a Youtubers offerings as a basis for opinion.

Other than that-chacon a son gout.

There are other brands that have failed to be truthful, and continued to push those lies even after being called out on it, but they remain popular.

I don't have a view either way on Invicta, I've seen several on here that are passable, I've seen many online that are laughable. Fortunately I have enough wants to deal with as it is!

Of course not and indeed it results to "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I just noted his enthusiasm, which detracted from usual "non pro-diver" Invicta perception as a "breath of fresh air". I still remain not a fan of the "non pro diver" line up. What I therefore agreed to was that "they still make some very good watches" and "they do make some decent watches on occasion".

Still, for my in-law, my recommendation of the Grand Diver was based on price (150$ CAD, the closest to it was the Islander Bumble Bee at 300$ USD + shipping and customs = closer to 500$ CAD), his taste WRT several options given, known reliability of the NH35A and my experience with the Pro Diver (as my beater).

Like most companies they have some hitters and some Sh##ers

Pro Diver is a great entry diver and/or daily beater. Had to send first one back to Amazon due to bad crown. The replacement has been a runner, no issues. Once you get a good one it’s great value for money.

Well they just filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They do have some nice watches. and a BUNCH of turds. Their business practices are poor.
