Favorite microbrands?

Which microbrands do you think are on their game right now?!

I think RZE exceeded my expectations, and they have their own identity; similarly Nodus seems excellent in quality for the price. Recently been interested in Farer for their unique designs - the Lomond model above I think is underrated. Looks awesome.

my favourite is baltic, lorier, vario, and yema. i love farer too, i know them from teddy balldassarre channel

My only microbrand watch is a Scurfa Diver One in titanium - so I suppose it's my favourite! For those that don't know the brand, it's created by a working saturation diver who was after a watch that would spare his vintage Rolexs and be tough enough for the extreme conditions. Mine has obviously not been exposed to anywhere near the rigours but is my choice for when I want something a bit more resilient. A terrific watch (more sensible colours are available too).

Vaer is the microbrand that doesn't act like a microbrand. They don't really do the niche enthusiast stuff, they just make a solid everyman watch. And they make some in 36mm, thank God.

Brew is interesting, even though they make clunkier stuff than I want. Mr Jones Watches is polarizing but they definitely have their niche down.

Straum, Baltic, Anordain, & Arken are the ones that resonate the most for me.

·

My favorite microbrands that I own are Farer, Baltic, and Ares Watches.

But I would say the micros that I don’t own who are also on their game is Oak and Oscar, and Orion Watches

·

Of the micros I own I really enjoy are RZE and Baltic. Each for their distinct design languages and their incredible after sales support. I really like Lorier for similar reasons although I sold my Neptune.

·

I especially like:

  • Lorier for their clear vision and design language.
  • Vario for their resistance to releasing uninspired divers
  • Maen for... the Manhattan 37

Definitly Formex for me.

I have their 39mm Essence and its lovely. They have great pieces for the price. Even the new Field Watches look amazing. Very much a recommendation from me to everyone who is looking for a daily or field under 1500 Bucks.

I have two - the Astor + Banks fortitude, and a Brew Retromatic they are both amazing. Brew seems to kill it every time. but I also really want to try out Weiss, Baltic, Farer and Lorier

I like my microbrands almost all more than i do the big boys.  I have Zelos, Shoreham, Tribus, Marloe, Werenbach, and just received a Farer yesterday.  They are all huge bang for the buck.

But there are also so so many that I have yet to grab...I have to keep a screenshot folder on my phone to remind me of what to buy next.  Amazing that so many can companies from so many countries keep popping up. No way can I keep up.

Bought a ocean crawler last year. Very well built looks good and it keeps good time.

·

Farer, Lorier, Traska, Halios, and Oak & Oscar have been my favorites lately.

·

I have been into Feynman Timekeepers. Their style and aesthetic is really inspiring to me.

·

The only Micros I have are RZE, Boldr, and Wicked Watch.  I think Wicked watch could do great things if he could get suppliers and assembly to be more edficient.  Definately a brand to keep an eye on in the next year or so.

·

Long Island Watch is the up and coming brand. Solid product with excellent service. He has gone to the dark side with quartz but those are nice too.

·

I only own two micro-brands and they are RZE and Smith’s (Timefactors).

IMO they’re both great “fun” watches and I enjoy each of them.  I don’t think either of them could ever be my daily driver but I see no reason to stay away from micro brands either.

As I've said elsewhere here, just waiting for them to start producing the solar field watches (seems I wasn't alone in their survey that wants one).

Lum Tec is my favorite.
Great quality and customer service

·

Two of my favourites are Duxot and Precista……very underrated

I was very curious about Timefactors. They seem well built! For me the Speedbird caught my eye more than the Everest.

I absolutely love the look and construction of the Formex, but it bothers me that the power reserve is so short, probably just a nit pick. This was on my short list for a long time.

Those A&B watches look incredible, too bad that they have nothing to buy on their website.

The power reserve was the only thing that bothered me too. But I use it as a daily for work. So it gets worn a lot. But I find myself needing to set my watches with 80 hours reserve too.

Also it’s a relaxing thing to set your watch to perfect time (takes 1-2 minutes for me). I do it when I am getting ready for work or sitting in the bus etc. For me it was about finding the right time to do it and enjoy the experience.

·

You make a great point. I recently got my first automatic watch. And so far it is -10 seconds/day, but hey that is what mechanical watches do.

·

As far as I've searched, Baltic,  le forban and Farer offer great timekeepers of very different styles and prices that I really dig.

·

Halios, Farer, Serica and Christopher Ward, Direnzo , Moels & co. for now
