I was doing some research for a watch I needed for work. I was replacing a watch that I had for a few years that broke and I wanted something that would last me a a lot longer so I grabbed the first G-Shock I saw and… I hated it. it wasn’t a bad watch, it was just that the model I had grabbed had some major drawbacks that ruined the usability at night which was extremely important to me. so I returned it and a did a whole lot of research into the model that would be perfect for me and in the process I gained a whole new love for watches.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
the first watch I ever owned was a random digital one that I had grabbed from Walmart. don’t know anything about it and I don’t think it’s that much of a loss as I didn’t really care that much about it or watches at the time. My first watch that I actually care about and still have to this day was a gift from my grandfather. it’s a bit of a funky one. Tokyo Flash Kisai Online. I was maybe 14 or 15 and I needed a watch and my grandfather told me that he would get me one as long a I picked one that I could wear with normal clothes as well as dress clothes. well being a teenager I also just had some questionable taste so I found something that fit that description but was also a complete oddity. surprisingly he got it for me because he thought it was surprisingly nice for what it was. I was very grateful and it it still one of my favorite watches to this day.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
buy what you like and only what you like. don’t think that there is a type of watch you have to have to round out the collection. buy only what you like and can afford.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
That would have to be the AP Royal Oak. it is probably the best design I’ve ever seen and I fell in love the moment I saw it. Unfortunately it is completely unattainable for me at this time. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it one day.
