Moon phase watches

Hi everyone,

Can you help me with some suggestions for a good affordable moon phase watch? My wife isn't really into watches but she recently showed some interest in moon phase watches. So thought I'd get her one.

I thought the Farer moon phase would have been perfect, but it's out of stock now. Should have bought it when I had the chance.

Thanks!

Zeppelin. Beautiful, reliable, affordable, and I think it also comes in a 36mm size, as well as in steel.

Orient is probably the cheapest at sub $400. Though it looks kind of wonky, the moon and the sun have faces.

Cheaper than the Farer would be Tissot, Raymond Weil, a little more you can look at Christopher Ward, Baumé and Mercier. A little more than that Frédérique Constant.

Around the same price as the Farer, would be Longines and Orient Star. The Longines is a beautiful watch, but has a classic look unlike the Farer which is beautiful in its own unique way. You might want to wait until 2024, when they come back.

Check out the Orient Sun and Moon. It’s not exactly a moonphase, it’s a day/night complication but it looks similar.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yea. May wait for Farer to be available again.

Thanks. Never seen this model before. Looks cool.

the farer can be too large for a woman wrist.

If you don’t care about a mechanical movement, Frédérique Constant and Victorinox make ladies watches with moonphase:

Also check out Mido, they might have something in their baroncelli line and usually have great prices on the grey market.

I think this farer will look good on a lady's wrist.

I would not recommend a mechanical moonphase watch for someone who is not all that into watches. Quartz means you won't have to re-set the complication for two and a half years when it's drifted off by a day (and you're probably due for a new battery around then anyways).

My wife has a quartz Tissot Carson Moonphase 32mm and loves it (which is not to say she isn't into watches, she is and still prefers quartz for this type of complication).

Absolutely. The Zeppelin I recommend is also quartz.

I have a Baltany quartz moonphase in the mail. Unbeatable price point ($150), typical microbrand specs, and a good original design.

I think it would look great on any wrist. I’m kind of into pink as of late.

CW makes an amazing moonphase - but the size is probably a non starter for most women
