The Brand New Longines Mini DolceVita

Pretty, compact, and comfortable, I spent a week with the brand new Longines Mini DolceVita to review for ablogtowatch.

I like the classical styling and size. I don't mind the Roman numerals due to the absence of a "IIII". Compliments to the hand model.

Thank you! You're absolutely right; the lack of Romans on the bottom of the dial takes away a lot of the clutter that they usually add to the dial. The dial was surprisingly compelling to me.

I am not sold on the look of the bracelet, but the sheer amount of articulation should make it a comfortable fit on a small wrist. It is a beautiful dial.

We like the new one, classy and compact! I think my better half preferred the no-diamond version. The bracelet kinda reminded us of little delicious Parker House rolls. lol

Also reminds me of a block of chocolate 😂

haha I fully support that!

At a glance, I got pretty excited about this for my wife as I love the brick-style bracelet. But the Roman numerals, I know, are a deal breaker for her. Still, it's a nice and instantly distinct design so expect it will do well, and Longines can iterate on this with batons/arabics somewhere down the road...

I like it. Then again, Longines seem to be doing a lot right.

Put it this way… I’m just glad to see not another tool watch.

Agree with the numerals, it has a better layout, of which someone has clearly thought about placement and legibility. A sub-second dial will always get a thumbs up from me, even if they are indirect these days as a form of watch dressage. I think more watches need bracelets of note - I’m lamenting the Piaget Polo’s shift from watch/bracelet into sporty watch, and I just want to see more bling.

Solid gold 1980s/90s Piaget Polo watches hold a special place in my heart!

Great piece and nod to your father. I'm digging into your piece on the Yemma Urban Field . Just read your Seiko 5 writeup🙂

The Yema is super cool! I was quite taken by the blue dial one

Yema appears to be working hard to up their fit and finish game. I donated a Yema Navygraf to Brian's @Mr.Dee.Bater charity project. The piece wasn't really worn. A good watch. The new Yema models appear to be great watches at their price point. Great articles BTW

Very pretty, I would prefer a version without diamonds

Well written article and a nice bit of historical family connection!

I love those connections as and it’s one of my reasons I lean into Seiko and GS, with my wife’s side of the family and time living in Japan.

I’m not a great a fan of the 1/2 Roman / California style - but will admit on some watches the full circle of Roman numbers looks cluttered:

I’m glad there is a subdial with a second hand.

Too many ladies watches have tiny dials and lack a seconds hand, with no quick way to see it’s operating normally. That great bracelet and tank aesthetic also look great.

Will show the Longines to wifey tomorrow to see if she likes it!

Beautiful watch! Longines has an amazing line of women’s sized watches. While shopping with my fiancée, the options by Longines and the value that they offer is outstanding. Though both me and my fiancée are not a fan of diamond watches. One watch that we saw changed our view on it.

The IWC Portofino. Since then we have kinda opened our mind to a diamond dial/bezeled watch.

Yes, I go back and forth about Roman numerals. Some do it well and some don't - they're tricky!

Wow, that Portofino is stunning!

I've always loved diamond watches, I know that's outdated thinking (it seems that most female watch writers these days are repelled by diamond watches) but I think some occasions call for one.
