Does this thing suck?

I’ve been thirsting after the Pelagos 39 since shortly after it’s release. I’ve even tried it on at my local AD and decided it’s the perfect watch for me

However, as you can tell from the photo, my wrists are smaller than average at about 6-6.25” depending on the time of year.

I love the way the watch head sits and the weight is a chef’s kiss. I also love that it has the T-fit system as I usually have a problem with bracelet sizing because of how much my wrist size changes.

However…

After watching several videos, I keep seeing that because the clasp is so large it hangs open on one ends and catches on things. I also heard this problem is worse when your wrist is on the smaller side.

I didn’t notice this at the AD because the bracelet wasn’t sized for me.

My question is if anyone on here with this watch has a small wrist and if so is the clasp an issue for you?

TLDR: I have a small wrist and am wondering if the clasp of the Pelagos 39 is too big or not?

I have it and I find no issue with the clasp but I have 7.25-7.5 inch wrist…

Try it on again with that in mind! I think it's a very good looking watch, but for that kind of money I would want it to be perfect for me.

I highly doubt the clasp would cause you any singificant or even noticeable issue. I've heard that same complaint about my Junghans Max Bill because of the dome-shaped crystal but I've had absolutely zero issues with it. If you really like the watch as much as you say you do, buy it. What may be a big issue for others may be something entirely dismissable to you.

I don't know if it's only with the 39mm but I have the 42mm and I don't have any problems with the Pelagos clasp.

Try rubber strap with tang buckle 🤣🤣🤣

Get the FXD then it isn't even an option 😉

I have small wrists. The long clasp has never been an issue. Never snagged anything. But I also don’t have my arms carelessly flaying around like an ostrich when wearing a wristwatch. I wouldn’t take everything these YT Watch reviewers state as fact. Cons or complaints can often be just nitpicking, because they’re trying to find something else to talk about regarding the watch being reviewed.

As a fellow small-wristed guy, I’m surprised the watch looks wearable at all! That said, I wouldn’t take the chance personally.

The restrained lug to lug makes the watch head very wearable. I have no qualms with big watches as long as the lug to lug isn’t beyond 47mm. My largest case diameter is 47mm because it doesn’t have traditional lugs.

Great profile picture by the way. Wish I’d thought of that!

The excessively long clasp is the reason I never bought the watch. This clasp isn't a little long, it's about 1cm longer than it should be for my wrist, which is 16cm. It would look and wear like a handcuff.

I don't own, and never have owned, the watch but I do know for a fact it would annoy the f*** out of me. I have sold watches because of bulky clasps before, three times in fact amd they weren'tas bulky as this one. I know better now. I have the same size wrist as you. I won't tell you what to do, I can tell you however that I will not own this model for that very reason.

I’ve had my Pelagos 39 for a bit over a month now. I don’t like bracelets generally, but I like this one an awful lot.

The bracelet has a long clasp for sure - almost as long as the watch lug-to-lug, but I haven’t had any issues with it snagging on anything so far.

But I have a fairly flat (6.7”) wrist. When you go to try it on again, try pinching the extra links so the clasp lays flat against your wrist and see if there’s a gap. If so, you might find snagging issues, but if not, you’ll be fine.

Good to know! I’m a 6.0 or 15.2 cm , giant clasps are my bane!
