The collection journey continues...
Just finished listing another 15 watches for sale. That makes over 300 watches sold/given away in the last 12 years. Of course those were all bought in that same period of time.
Goal, not counting gifts received, is a 7 watch collection. One in/one out from this point forward. This makes sense financially; quality over quantity. And I sure as hell don't want my wife/kids burdened with getting rid of dozens of watches when I finally eat dirt.
May the odds be ever in my favor...
Current collection:
DOUGLAS Outrider Pro Green
MARATHON GSAR Arctic

Which watches did you decide to part with? So far, I have followed a similar principle selling a few when I buy a few. I just put one of my watches up for sale today on eBay.

Most of the watches I want to sell are pretty affordable. selling them would probably bring couple of bucks but I don't know if it's worth the hassle. I also feel like I will regret it.
Here are some:
Citizen Field Watch: (I still like it. I just don't use it enough)
Glycine (My wife bought me the 48mm I still haven't the courage to break her heart)
Not in love with the dial color
Reminds me too much of my Fossil watches back in the days LOL
I am striving to get to 10. The struggle is real. Another question is where do you sell your watches? I have mixed much and an trying to find a good site to sell through.
Ideally i wanna keep everything. But reality is i have to maintain some responsibility and not have too much cash tied up in watches in case the economy turns sour. I try to keep it at around 8, but also making sure quality is there.

As someone with a collection of 8-11 watches I feel overlooked by your survey and will be spending today rocking back and forth in a corner wondering what I've done wrong.
I voted 12-24, which is where I’ve comfortably settled. As I was finishing my primary collection, which I had set at a firm 9, I was introduced to homages after an interaction here on WatchCrunch. Thus, my budget sub collection was born. I seem to have settled on my budget selections at 10 pieces, 7 Pagani Designs, 2 Seikos, and a Ball quartz. I’ve truly enjoyed the freedom of the budget sub collection, almost as much as my primary collection. I’ll add a pic of the budget sub collection:
I find my collection getting larger since Paypal started reporting to the IRS. I haven't sold a watch in a couple of years.
No interest in Zelle or other options.
I stopped gifting watches years ago since my stepson destroyed a Tag Series 2000 with his riding mower. Nobody in my circle gives a rats ass about watches.
More for me. What happens after I drop dead isn't a concern. probably end up going for 5 bucks each at my memorial yard sale.
I am not a watch collector but rather a watch enthusiast who likes to try new watches and sell/gift the ones that no longer hold my interest.----------------------------------------- "Courage is knowi...

I picked 12-24 because I want to keep mine between 8 and 16.

I have to seriously consider selling some of mine. Good strategy on your part.
Currently at 12 and may add another 2.

I am in the process of paring my collection down to 30 watches. Got a bunch for sale as I write this. 😁
172 in the boxes and totally unrepentant....

I have just around 15 so that number resonates with me... but if you can manage with more, i dont see why not!
Only a baby in the watch world (3 months) but a proud owner of my 1 watch collection, a Longines Spirit Titanium 40mm.
Can’t predict how things will change over time but I’ve only grown to love this watch more and more, and can’t imagine wearing anything else.
Might be interesting to come back to this comment in a few year’s time!

Reading these comments, I think I might have a problem. Every watch I buy is going to be my last.
Refining it down to 6-7 is my aim too. No idea how many I own, maybe 20+, but only 4-5 worn regularly.
Now the GSAR is being sold. Have a Second Hour Gin Clear MKII Pastel Blue ordered to replace.
Traska opens orders in just under three hours. Fingers crossed.
And three Traska models inbound. And so the Wolbrook Outrider Pro will be sold.
This one in/one out is tough but I am holding myself to it.
Planning in 2025 to take it down to five.
Then down to three eventually. Maybe.
Have to wean myself. 😂
One in/one out. Seven total (one of those is a pre-order). This is tough!
