What Do You Think of the Seagull 1963 Chronograph.

Besides a Vaer solar diver, the next watch I want to get is a Seagull 1963 Chronograph. It is 38mm, 46mm lug-to-lug, and has a sapphire crystal + in-house movement. I want y’alls opinions on it before i make the choice.

You know, for me, this is one of those watches I am interested in and have thought about getting many, many, many times, but whenever I am actually looking to add a new watch to my collection, it sort of falls by the wayside. The Casioak is another watch in this category for me. Interested in it, but never seem to get one. 🤣

My only complaint is that the crown is too small to be comfortable when winding. If the crown was larger, I'd wear mine a lot more often.

Yeah, the crown is a bit difficult to get in there and twist. I did a write-up on my opinion of the Seagull 1963 in the thread below. It’s definitely an interesting watch to wear on occasion, but I can’t say I’d trust it as a daily user.

For me it's a tricky one. I personally don't own one, it's like what @Candide3693 said it's one that I never seem to get round to. I don't like the history of it (I strongly disagree with the Chinese Army) but then again I still wear my flieger. Honestly though if/when i do pick one up it's going to spend more time in my hand than on my wrist. That movement is 😍

The thing that appealed to me about the Seagull 1963 chronograph was the display caseback providing a view of the ST19 movement. There are several other alternatives with the same ST19 movement and display case back, such as this Geckota W-02, which I personally prefer over the Seagull 1963.

The 1963 is a great watch and the ST-19 is THE gateway drug for mechanical chronographs. That being said if you want a "real" 1963 you're gonna have to shell out over $500 for one on Alibaba if you want to buy it from Seagull themselves. But even though the cheaper ones are "fake" because they aren't directly produced by the Tianjin factory, they look practically identical, and you can get one off Ali for about $150.

I don't know anything about the Seagull.  However, you will love the VAER solar.  It's one of the best bang-for-buck watches on the market.  Definitely get the upgraded bracelet.  It looks great on straps too.   I have the D4  Atlantic / Black.

Mine just arrived last week and man I'm glad I pulled the trigger after how many days of thinking about it hanging in the cart. Love the size, 38mm, acrylic glass dial, hands, movement and everything about it.  For me the 38 is best way to go as it fits best with dial and hands symmetry and truest to the OG. I got a 50+ hour reserve on mine, +4 sec/day accuracy out of the box... which was a very welcome suprise. And I love the nato strap too, not stiff like other natos. But a leather strap is on the way 😅. Go get it and enjoy 👍

I read your reviews and it greatly helped me decide on getting the 1963.  Thanks for the effort and write up 👍

Where’d you buy this at? Looking to get one myself!
