Still can't part with the SKX...

I have been going back and forth for months on if I should get rid of my SKX007. Every time I think I'm going to put it up for sale, it some how always finds itself back on my wrist.

Does anyone else have this problem with the SKX?

I wouldn't call that a problem. A problem would be selling and then regretting it.

I gave my SKX013 to my daughter. So it's not completely gone, and I get a vicarious kick from watching her enjoying it. And it also gave me an excuse to buy my Black Bay 58. 😎

Don't particularly know that from my watches because I don't sell them but I for sure have been in situations like that a few times with different things and I can only say from my experience that sooner or later you would regret selling it since it clearly has more value than just money to you

·

It is a classic? And it might have trouble finding a another good example at a fair price if you get cold feet?

Never owned one personally, but a cool piece 😊

·

I felt that way about other watches I've parted with and I definitely regretted it. You gotta be sure about it. I suggest wearing it a lot more and make a decision afterward

Don’t get rid of it. The SKX is a corner stone to everyone‘s collection.

Nope... I've never had one and never will.

It is getting harder/more expensive to find though, so holding it is a good idea if you like it.

The SKX to me is the K-Car/Escort/Chevette of watches. Sure lots of people started with one, but that's just because they were cheap, not because they were good.

·

It’s a classic 👌🏽 I’d hold on to it for as long as possible

·

I have a 173 and a 009 and want a 007 bad. Let me know if you sell it but don’t sell it 😂

·

i have the opposite problem. I keep convincing myself to NOT buy one but after a while I look at another good shot of it and start looking again only to see prices have gone And regret not having bought it before which in turn makes me want to pull the trigger before they go even higher 🤣

Hi All,
Can you please recommend from where can I buy such watch straps like the one in the image.
I'm just about to get my hands on my first SKX007

·

I think it can remain in every collection as a beater watch that you can wear and enjoy without worrying about it getting scratch or stole.

If you want to change the feeling about it, maybe change a new bracelet/strap or even mod its movement, crystal, bezel insert?

·

No harm in keeping it surely?

Also, great to see you have the Japanese edition. I think keep it 👌

I sold my #seiko SKX009 earlier this year and I definitely miss it. The plan was to buy a Seiko 5 GMT instead, but I've yet to pick one up.

I loved the styling of the SKX but also struggled with the lack of a sapphire crystal and the non-hacking, non-hand winding movement when there were so many better alternatives available. I think it depends on what else you have in your collection. I picked up a mid-2000s Seamaster Diver 300M and the SKX eventually lost out due to a complete lack of wrist-time.

I still think the SKX is a great watch, though! Solid and stylish--a classic!

It sounds like you would have sellers remorse. Keep it.

That's one good way to keep it, give it to a family member and watch them love it as much as you did!

I love my Black Bay 58! That is one I am never getting rid of because my wife would kill me if I did 😂

I have quite a few divers in my collection like a BB58, Omega Seamster 300M, and and Oris Divers Sixty-Five. The seiko makes its way onto my wrist whenever I am doing something rough but, now a days that's not that often.

How is your mid-2000s seamster 300M?

I got lucky with finding the Japanese edition for super cheap as I don't think the seller knew what they had when I bought it. The got it as a gift from their parents and it was brand new never worn but, it wasn't their style so they sold it to me 😀

Luckily there are a lot out there if you want to pick it up again.

I know how you feel but, I got lucky after looking on FB marketplace in my home town to see a kid was selling it after it was given to him as a gift from his parents and it wasn't his style. So, I got it for super cheap!

It's great! A solid, if-retro, choice for most occasions.
