Custom Watch Carry Case [project]

I had seen pictures of watch collections in a modified Pelican case using the pick-and-pluck foam to store watches, and that solution didn't seem quit...

Agree that a Speedy is a solid entry in any watch box! More of a watch-nerd choice than Rolex, in my opinion. I am more inclined to go up and talk to somebody wearing a Speedy than a Rolex wear-er.

41mm seems bonkers to me for a watch that is in the dress category (no matter wrist size). There must be a bunch of giants buying them to keep Seiko producing them.

His live-streams are just impressive. I have no idea how he does all the shout-out/roll-call stuff, comments on people he knows, remarks on a commenters time zone and answers questions on the fly. It is an impressive skill that I find awesome. He also slides in great little jabs and jokes...what a baller.

I will say that I was watching one of the streams on TV and my wife was listening from the other room. When she walked in and saw him, "WOAH, he does NOT look like what he sounds like" 😂

He cracks me up with his photos of people he meets. Seems to always be wearing a sport coat over some sort of graphic t-shirt. That guy is his own thing...doesn't seem to give AF about what others think. I applaud him for that.

There are times where I wear a "nice watch" during the week, and then switch to something more tough for yard work weekends. It is pretty luxurious to set the watch down Friday and pick it up Monday and it is still set to the correct time.

That said, I have never really considered this an important spec when considering/fantasizing about potential watch purchases. It is totally a nice to have thing, not super big deal. When I am rotating them more often, like you do, it really doesn't make a difference.

What I WOULD like is a power reserve on the back of the dial for manual wind watches. Let me know if I need to fuel it up, or not. That would be far more useful, IMO. Not a big fan of them on the front of the dial, personally.

If I had some crazy complicated perpetual calendar situation, then the power reserve would save me the effort of waking up my live-in watch setting butler to set the date properly. So that would be nice.

One other to consider is Archimede. They have gone up in price over the years, but still seem a decent value. No idea why there are so few on the pre-owned market.

They used to get reviewed, but not recently it seems.

A custom watch my 8 year old made for me on my birthday. This striking 1:1 is hand fabricated with an integrated elastic strap and features a number of unique details including being the thinnest watch in the world, a day window at 9, and lugs at 3 and 9 instead of the traditional 12 and 6.

HAHAHAH!!! This really got me good!

Lovely collection, and great writeup. That future Nomos is really a great one...good luck on chasing it down.

I am in a similar state with a distinct lack of divers, though I do miss the bezel for timing things. I have a chronograph now that works, but it is almost to accurate...if that makes sense. I am in the same state with 75% of the box "locked in" and the rest are on the bubble that will likely get bumped off the starting squad over time.
