Help me choose my travel watch. Longines Zulu Time 39mm vs Sinn 105 UTC

Ok I know these are quite different pieces, but some advice would be appreciated. I am looking for a watch for 1-2 x a year travel, sometimes tracking loved ones overseas. Something under the radar that won't attract unwanted attention steers me away from more expensive options. Recognizing the movements are different and I have use-case for both, which would you choose? Real world pricing is likely within $400 difference. The Longines has higher finish but the Sinn has a certain 'IFKYK" appeal and rough aesthetic. Thanks!

Both great choices but I’d choose the Longines. Also like the white dial 105 UTC…

This is too tough to say beyond personal taste.

·

Longines for sure

·

I rarely use the UTC function but I'm very happy with the watch and movement.

Both are great choices I don’t think you could go wrong either way but I’d probably lean toward longines

·

Longines looks way better

·

If you travel just for traveling, I say go the Sinn. If you're going for business, go for the Longines.

If you travel just for traveling, I say go the Sinn. If you're going for business, go for the Longines.

More likely to bang it around on a hike or go to the beach than use for business. This is my conundrum, I like the Sinn for these issues but the Zulu is the internet darling, probably has a better movement, and I can't see either in real life.

To that I say, buy what you want, not the Internet darlings. So it's not thirst trap, so what? You go with what you like.

Both are nice watches. Being that you're more likely to hike as opposed to wearing for business, I'd definitely go with the Sinn. It is the more rugged option and favors function over form. I'd say the Longines is more "refined". I own two Sinns but wouldn't hesitate to own this Longines. For your use case, I recommend the Sinn.

·

I really, really like the Zulu Time. BUT!!!, if you want to avoid unwanted attention, chose the Sinn as it has the military look with the ruggedness to match

·

I personally like the longines better but you should buy what appeals to you 👍

·

I think the Longines is more versatile. However, if you are not sure, buy both

·

I’d go with the Zulu Time.

·

Damn! Hard choice. I would go the Longines in blue, but that is just my preference. Both look amazing and by all reports are amazing watches!

·

When ever I’m faced with a choice of a sinn vs anything else close in price I’m picking sinn. Never been disappointed with any of my sinns. This choice is close mind longines are doing some nice stuff at the moment

·

Absolutely Longines

·

Longines would be my choice for the best GMT to pick up of two; but if you want under the radar the Sinn would be my route, and is an awesome bran

·

I'll just leave this here..

Similar money, but because it's quartz, it will always be accurate when you need it.. Plus true GMT function..

·

Nice problem to have.

I would choose the Longines as it’s a stunning watch.

Sinn is a good looking tool watch but not as classically classy as the Longines.

·

Two very different watches, but Sinn wins it for me. I like the original design characteristics and think it would fly under the radar more.

·

My vote would be a used sinn. They can be had at a good discount. I have one and it is a great watch. Never use the GMT but the orange hand looks great. But I have always wanted that Grand Seiko GMT. I may like the new one better. I have been wanting to see one in person.

·

Ok folks. Thanks so much for the input. I have learned a lot. 1. I don’t really NEED a gmt (or a new watch) but rather just want one. 2. As much as it isn’t as cool in the community, caller gmt is like much better as part of a collection, as there is quick-set date. 3. The longines (as expected) is a more refined piece with polishing, finish, possibly better movement. 4. The Sinn draws me in more as can serve double duty with outdoor activity, and I really like the orange hand.

Thanks again

·

Or just get the Zulu plus a marathon. Hmmm

·

Sinn

·

Sinn. But I don’t care for the longines spirit. The hydroconquest is much better in my opinion. But Sinn is awesome looking and a great brand from what I know.

·

Both are now nice. It’s a difficult comparison. I would pick the Sinn only a slight bit more than the Longines.

·

Yeah I went Sinn because it suits my collection better. Thanks for all the input

Sinn for me
