You saw it here first

I want to ask a question. Can anyone actually resist a good looking Seiko? You can't. Not even if you already have a hundred of them. Because that precisely explains why you cannot resist one more.

We all know the SSC 813, the very much well received 'Seitona' and although along with it came many colors which were all good and nice, but none of them really stole the limelight like the panda did.

And within a year or less, Seiko launched the SSC 911, an apparent update with a bigger case size of 41mm, much more lume now, and yet at a similar price point. To be honest, I was really attracted to the SSC 813 but i thought I should sit that one out as it was really too Daytona looking. So when the SSC 911 was launched, I jumped on it. It was still pretty 'Daytona' looking, but the red seconds hand and the two color bezel, along with a wider case size, seem to set them slightly apart.

Now less than a year had passed and the question at the beginning of this post is asking for a sacrifice. I saw this new SSC 933 on Instagram, this time with a sunblasted finished deep green dial and hell do I love green. Have you guys seen the fume green on the ORIS Aquis or the Cartier Santos? Green dials had been in the trend for a while now and something tells me its going to reign a bit longer.

With this new colorway, the Prospex of me getting the 39mm reference began to reveal itself. (You saw what I did there). I texted my local dealer, and was told that it was slated for an October 2023 release and I will have to wait. I made an order without seeing the real thing and wearing it on my wrist. I know a lot of watch people here are gonna go 'tsk tsk'!

I finally picked it up yesterday and I was really glad it looked and wore just as I had imagined it to be. The dimensions were perfect, the color was great, but it looks somewhat black under certain lighting conditions. The polish and finish was what you will expect from a Seiko, and I can only say, a lot of ticks were checked in the boxes that day.

Just a little side note on this impulse purchase of mine. Sometimes I feel I am happier when I run into a purchase like this, as compared to spending thousands on a luxury watch. The Seiko is a great looking piece with an impressive V192 Solar movement, and the price point is just right. You get a lot of watch for the price, and lot of money left to spend with or on the people around you that mattered. Now tell me that isn't enough to make you happy. :)

Very nice mate. I know where you're coming from. A few extra Seiko's have made their way into my collection that I haven't been able to say no to. I keep telling myself that life is short, so why not 😜

·

The chronograph models colorways are so niceley done. It's one of those watches that come in colours that you want to pick one of each.

I want the panda, cream, ice blue and the new green dial variant 😂

so cool!

i have my eyes on the ice blue version but i'll probably swap the bracelet for a 3rd party option with full steel optics without the black middle links

I need a good reason to buy two of the same watches in different colours so I can justify my purchases 😂

·

Seiko got cold feet and fucked with a watch that already looked different from the Daytona—and looked dang good too!

They can't sit still like hey, let's do this again with another color, again. Hahah

I hear you. To borrow a phrase from Jodie at Just One More Watch, "The last thing I need is another auto". But the Seiko bug struck again and I pulled the trigger on this handsome Alpinist a couple of days ago.

That is a beautiful alpinist u got there and js really awesome, I have a thing for white dials as well, and yet this alpinist also comes in green! Faint!

Oh wow 😳 I have been looking around for a green watch in quartz that I really like for a long time. They're just isn't that much. And I don't see many chronographs I like either. I think this watch solves all of those problems and I have to have one 💸😀

Have u seen the citizen 'op' in green, pretty good but I feel it's rather light and the bracelet feels sharp on the edges. I like some heft in my watches and I think the green on this seiko hits the right spot, u have to see and wear this for urself and there is just something about a 39mm chrono 🙂

Don't have it yet. Still debating with myself 😄. Trying to build up my watch slush fund for either a Rado or Mido.

I have seen it and yeah not quite right. I have a smaller 6.5 in wrist so I think the Seiko hits the perfect dimensions.

A Seiko never makes me Happy but Seiko’s… those brings me joy 😜

I resist and complain while pulling my wallet out.
