No idea if that detail of the strap size was intentional, but makes Bond seem very practical - and not wearing the watch as part of the ensemble - but as a tool.

In a way yes. This is not gospel, just what I have read from dudes who know waaaay more than I.

Back in the day, when one was issued a watch by some countries militaries, it could be a head only. They usually also had an accompanying issued or "regimental" strap along with it. When one was capable of getting into the more clandestine or kinetic/hands on jobs, the precursors to modern SF, usually you got issued a new tool watch. It was one of them "new fangled monstrously huge "dive" watches" that had a WHOPPING 18-20mm lug width and a case size bigger than 36!!! Can you believe it!

So some dudes kept the strap for old times sake, or necessity, i.e.- whenever supply guy could get his new strap ordered.

It was even more undersized than that. It was a 16mm RAF strap.

Also, Connery was the best Bond.

Wow, how DARE the United States Army tell a story about somebody different than you. It’s almost like the military is the biggest melting pot in this country where people of all walks of life are represented. Regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation or background. Sorry, I forgot, only big, tough, straight white men are allowed to be in the Army. I’ve fought, actually fought for this country. I have watched friends of mine be buried for this country and I don’t care who the person next to me is. I don’t care if they’re gay, straight, have 2 moms or 2 dads, nonbinary, I don’t give a good goddamn. As long as they stand for the same things I stand for and have my back and there soldier’s backs in a fight, that’s all that counts. Period. That’s funny I’m the opposite. I wear my bond watch on a nato that’s 1-2mm too big but with a curved springbar. I think it looks better than on a 20mm with a straight bar. Also, my other diver is a 21mm so it’s easier to buy one size for everything.

I have an Invicta like that as well and I pair it with the vintage style Bond Nato

I suppose the closest you can really get to the look is the Invicta 1953 (or the San Martin version) coupled with the "Vintage Bond" RAF strap from Geckota if they actually still make a 16mm version. For everyone else, any black subby homage and striped nato will do.

Do you mean Sean connery or bond because the character was supposed to be, that's how it was written. Also do remember that times were different and things that used to be seen as OK then obviously are not now, but you can't judge people's past by modern standards.
