In the past I haven't been collecting watches so much as accumulating them by chance. I Only bought two of the watches in me currant collection (well 3, but that one is a letdown and is not part of what I call my collection). And it has only been about two years that I glad to have more than one watch and wish I had more.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My first watch was a swatch (mid 80's) with the Halley's Comet dial. not necessarily a great color scheme. at least not for me.
The first watch I ever bought myself was a Timex Indiglo in the early 90's. Probably something of a expedition typ can't quite remember. When it died 10 years later I never thought of getting it repaired so I threw it away (dumb me - I wish I hadn't now) however it did define what I like in watches till today. pilots-, field , well anything the is tool-typ.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Try to only like watches you can afford. But that is like saying: do as I say and not as do. - good luck.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I am fairly new in watches so it is all new and exciting. But after purchasing my Sinn 836 I am looking at Siko mods and Christopher Ward. very intriguing. can't let the wife know. ...not jet at least.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
A watch I would greatly enjoy but will never be able to afford (or rather wouldn't afford even if I could) it a IWC Mark XX.
Yes, ist boring and there are much cheaper variations of the same theme by other company but to me they don't get it just quite right.
