Style for a gent

Age does strange things. Looking inward and seeing an older more mature (maybe) person that has more occasion to wear a dress watch. These looking very nice but prices seem low for SEIKO….under £300 any reason?

anyone have experience with either of these

I have a buddy who has a silver dialed presage on black leather strap and it is quite charming. Definitely a great budget dress piece!

·

Probably because it has hardlex instead of sapphire crystal

·

I own a Presage cocktail time. The best feature is the really great dial. The light play is spectacular.

Downsides are the case is a little thick. They use domed acrylic crystal to enhance the light play. The movement is not particularly accurate. These are all reasonable compromises at this price point.

·

The price is reflective of the movement and the crystal.  They are one tier up from Seiko 5 and one below a Seiko cocktail time.  Seiko is the Toyota of the watch world, they have a watch for every price point.

·

the bracelet really sets these off nicely!

What's the reference?

If you are getting this for under £300, its quite a steal.

Thanks for the comment

These are nice but I prefer the SARYxx Cocktail Time variants where all the indices are the 'needle' type, rather than this mix of numerals and indices.

I have the negroni version of these. It look great despite being a little thick for a dress watch. I work in pharmaceutical sales and wear long sleeves everyday and the negroni can slide under the cuff on my 6.75in wrist. My phone photo doesn‘t give this watch justice because it’s really stunning. Downside is hardlex but  I’m ok with it. 👌

I had the mojito (green) but sold it for unrelated reasons (I bought another presage). It's probably at a low price because it doesn't have sapphire crystal or an extraordinary movement. Even still, they're known for great value, and £300 is a very attractive price. Personally, I enjoyed the watch while I had it.

·

I had the blue version and was left a bit flat to be honest. The dials are lovely, but the rest of the watch has a pretty low spec, and it wears a lot larger than 38

last year i bought this one for gift to one of my colleague. dials are awesome, basic movement with a decorative rotor, not soo good bracelet (as always), and hardlex crystal. but overall i think ita worth the price

I have several in the collection. Great price to value ratio. They run the ubiquitous caliber 4R36 also known as the NH35. Solid watch.

Here are the ones I have in the collection (I added a couple of wrist shots so you can see how the dials react under the light):
