Need advice - should I buy one more?

Dear seasoned collectors...

I have a big promotion coming up at work. The biggest and probably last in many years to come (reaching a natural ceiling). So normally, this would be the time to buy yourself that one Grail watch.

...and I have been saving, so I have the money. So what's the problem??

I am actually quite happy and satisfied with my current collection. I know its not super expensive and not full of APs and Pateks, but I enjoy my top 3 pieces (top left) and the rest of my less expensive "beaters" and "special ocassion" watches. I've never been this calm and happy with the collection, so I don't want to jinx it.

I've looked around for watches in the last months knowing this could come, and yes, there are some candidates. But it does not feel like an obsession as it used to feel with the others. Have I grown up? Is this watch fatigue? Or am I just happy with my things now?

On the other hand, don't want to let this once in a lifetime milestone/excuse to indulge myself in something so unnecessary and expensive without the wife complaining...

What would YOU do??

Contentment is a much more valuable thing than any watch. I'd cherish that as long as I was able and perhaps give yourself the leave to buy something off cycle so to speak if something catches your eye.

I think there's a freedom in being able to browse, know you can get something but not feel compelled to buy something.

If it were me, and I was content with my collection, I'd spend the extra money on a nice trip to commemorate the promotion.

Ever been to Hawaii, Singapore, or Bali? They're all pretty awesome places to vacation.

Life is about the journey not the destination or the prize. So journey somewhere and enjoy the ride.

If you're truly content with your collection, and nothing is tugging at your heart strings, then it makes sense to leave the collection as is. The watch hobby can be very enjoyable, but it can also become an obsession, and it sounds like you are approaching it with a healthy attitude. I wish I could be in a position where I didn't have a never ending list of possible watch purchases bouncing around in my head.

That's also a good idea. Singapore and Bali yes, Hawaii not yet ;-)
