Anyone else keen on the new Seiko GMT releases for next year? I love the change to the field watch style, rather than the dive watch GMT! The grainy black also gives off a bit of a 'tacti-cool' vibe! ๐
What's everyone's thoughts: yay or nay?

+1.
That thing is awesome! Love the โtacti-coolโ!
Definitely yay.
Will this on be a #officegmt or a #travelgmt?
Ooo, Iโm liking that a lot. I planned on getting a Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition in 2024. This new Seiko is gonna make for a tough choice.

I like how it gives off a gritty feel! To me, miles better than on a dive watch case + dial!
That's my one concern as well... The Seiko prices have crept up majorly in the last 3 to 5 years. Even for models that should never have crossed the 150USD mark, are now going for 200+!! ๐ญ

Why not both? If in doubt, always go with both! ๐

Interesting!! If I were making that choice, it would simply be the Hamilton! The problem I have with the new Seiko is simply price vs value. The issue with Seiko in recent years is prices have crept up, but build materials haven't really. So for example, you're only getting Hardlex crystal. Which for nearly 450USD, gives me definite pause to really think it over. So if I were in your shoes.. .. I'd go Hamilton any day! ๐ What's your thoughts?
I like it.

IMO Hamilton has upped their game & build quality. Beloved Seiko has given a very cool new GMT look but not so much on the build materials or quality. Hamilton would be my choice
I may have just found my GMT :-). I like that it's not a dive style and should hopefully be a little thinner as a result.
24hr marks on the inner dial seem a bit redundant (in the event the bezel is fixed, that is...).
I'll be watching this release closely for sure! Thanks!

Just saw it today and was drawn to it immediately as well! We shall see next year ๐

Yep that was my thoughts as well. However, for someone like myself without any Seiko at all in my collection.... It is very tempting. I might as well shell out this one time and get the 'Seiko experience', and have one of their watches with multiple uses/styles. Rather than keep making that price vs value investment in the company multiple times for different types of watches.

Theres too many nice watches and I only have one wrist and half a wallet! That's the problem ๐
Good looking enough. Can already be pre-ordered for less than MSRP.
Needlessly too thick. At least Seiko got the size under 40mm, finally.
Mineral crystal at that price is just a ripoff.
Agreed! It's not like they're going for a vintage look or anything that means old school acrylic or Hardlex would be appropriate. This is a modern watch, modern specs, everything else is modern, so the crystal, finish, and bracelet should be worth the 450USD price!
I was afraid your comment about the inner 24 hour mark was going to be a detail I wouldnโt be able to unsee, but then I realized they are actually two different scales. Inner 24 is 13-24 for military time on main timezone, while the outer 24 hour is 1-24 for GMT hand function only.
I hadn't noticed that!
Around 450USD at MSRP
yes. ๐
Nah.. i don't think it's worth it because of those 2 reasons ๐
They really need to up their game, lots of watches with better specs & design for that price ๐
Thatโs very niceโฆ Iโm not loving the GMT hand specifically but everything else looks Longines spirit Zulu mixed with the Seiko SRPG which isnโt a bad thing
The stainless one will be mine! Giving off explorer II vibes a little with the bezel design. I like it a lot

I manage to have our friend pick up a 39mm alpinist GMT, with the green dial. Itโs amazing!
Itโs really cool looking. I think better than the diver. Lots of cheaper micros (e.g. Spinnaker) using that textured black dial and Patek. โบ๏ธ

So after reading all the different opinions on this post I went on a scavenger hunt to find a GMT watch that still spoke to me aesthetically, fell into a similar price range, and had same or better specs (as that was the main argument against this Seiko).
My winner is the Lorier Hyperion 2. About 150USD more than the Seiko, but arguably better value.
A very close runner up would be the Traska Venturer ๐

Thatโs a great watch and great choice.

So ready to see this in the wild. I was 50/50 on which seiko gmt Iโd want to scoop up till I saw this. All black, gmt bezel, orange accents in a field watch. Sign me up. Did thing Iโd want or need a field watch again after my Hamilton. I was wrong for sure
Check it out
That's sexy
I love it! I'm on the lookout for my first GMT so your post is very appreciated. Thank you!
