Aaaand...... Now I'm The D**khead! ๐Ÿ˜‚

(Attached picture for some attention)

Looking for someone that can relate to this! Ordered a watch, and everything went smoothly. I got the tracking number, and in the first couple days it was regularly updating at each new part of the journey. It even told me when it had been loaded onto the plane. And then...... Nothing. Nothing for 7 days. Surely it's not in the air for 7 days...

So I wait patiently, resetting the tracking app once a day to check for any updates. Still nothing. The day after the last estimated delivery date, I decide to send the seller a kind message, just seeing if they know anything I don't.

Literally within an hour the tracking app updates and let's me know the parcel has arrived at the local airport..... aaaand now I'm the d**khead bothering the seller! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyone else fall into this trap? ๐Ÿค”

Meh, you did nothing wrong. When I order things and they are late, I ask questions.

ยท

Ordering from AliExpress to Canada is insane for this. I have had a watch say it was departed for Canada and then sit there for 3 weeks. I have messaged the seller before. One was very knowledgeable and told me that there is some form of priority system and it depended how many planes to that country were cleared to leave as to how fast the watch made it here.

ยท

Only with my wine orders lol.

Yep same philosophy here, the inquiry just felt silly incredibly silly considering the update from the app just an hour later ๐Ÿ˜‚

I've heard that from a couple Crunchers. Canada seems to be a difficult destination for some vendors, especially from Asia for some reason.

Well I completely understand in that situation! Can't let the wine cellar go empty!!!

ยท

Don't feel bad as getting your purchase to you is entirely on them. It's what you paid for.

Just had to check with my wine guy about lateness of my delivery lol. Just received it a couple of days ago. One week late. Watch deliveries always on time.

Such is life man. Tis the dice we roll in interhuman connectivity. Little funny though

Lots of direct cargo flights to the USA. Not as many cargo planes to Canada. Just part of the fun collecting in Canada!

I have ordered watches and received the tracking. Showed label generated and then nothing. Watched arrived and still nothing updated. Usually it was coming from a foreign nation; which might be why.

Yep this one's coming from Spain, to New Zealand. All with national mail carriers/courier services. Just made me laugh that the update came so soon after I sent a query ๐Ÿ˜…

Not just me then! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ah fair enough... That does make things a touch frustrating. A good test of patience!

It's fair, especially if you couched it (as you say), "Are you seeing the same thing?" Because that's not accusatory or angry, or anything that would actually annoy the seller. Indeed, if I was sending something, I'd be quite interested (if not a bit worried!), if my shipping company was sending those signals to my buyers. So I think it's fine, honestly.

Fair enough. Don't think I did anything wrong either, but the comedic timing of my query definitely wasn't lost on me ๐Ÿ˜‚

Literally did the same thing last week. No tracking updates - email seller - strap turns up - seller mails back saying โ€˜we can see itโ€™s been deliveredโ€™

Yea got an email later that afternoon, 'We can see it has arrived in the destination country. Please be patient.' ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't get too excited. I've had exactly the same happen and everytime I reached out the tracking miraculously updated. 3 times I chased seller 3 times tracking updated and still no watch. Was told that China sellers (some) say they've sent an item and string you along until the opportunity to raise a dispute has passed, hoping you've no recourse to recoup monies paid.

No saying that's happened to you but don't let it go on too long before demanding a refund. Good luck, ๐Ÿคžit comes.

Ouch... That would be a rubbish experience. This shouldn't be the case here, hopefully. It's been ordered from a reputable watch retailer in Spain. So should be ok, but of course you'll never know till the watch is in hands!

With international shipping there is a massive lag time where it has to clear customs at least once, if not twice. Usually during that time they aren't scanning, probably because of security reasons and because they're checking large lots of shipments.

So, I'd say not the d**khead. It's natural to want to check up on stuff that hasn't moved. When I ordered my Boderry, it didn't have an update for over 2 weeks (maybe 3?) and I would have sent an email if I hadn't been distracted and kind of forgotten when I had ordered it.

Yep that's what I figured as well. Just made me laugh that the update came in within an hour of my query, after I waited patiently for the estimated delivery times to elapse. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is what UPS is currently doing to one of my orders:

Maybe they do it on purpose as a gag. ๐Ÿคฃ

You did nothing wrong. I ordered an Omega from a reputable eBay seller and the US Postal Service seems to have lost the package. It's still "missing mail" after almost a month. Ebay only gives 30 days from estimated delivery date to file a refund request, so I'll be forced to do so to recover my funds. The seller has been great. I really want the watch though!

Oh that's rubbish! Sorry mate, especially for an Omega. Hopefully the seller and you can both recoup some of the losses?

I wouldn't be too worried about mine if that happened, it's 'just' a G-Shock. Just happened to be a model I couldn't get in my region, hence ordering it online from Europe!

At this point I don't even look at the tracking for Ali purchases. They'll get here someday. I often even forget I made the orders ๐Ÿคฃ

If it's something that I know arrives within a few days, I track it. But for stuff that may take weeks I just let it flow because being anxious about a package for weeks isn't it for me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

But as others have said, you did nothing wrong. You weren't even impatient there!

Fair enough. I just don't order often enough to have grown that 'parcel Zen' yet ๐Ÿ˜‚ money spent + from online = always has me slightly anxious. So different from traditional retail where the formula is so simple. I give money = you put product in my hands. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't get me wrong. I do get anxious about it ๐Ÿ˜‚

But I rarely order anything from Ali that's substantial in price so that's easier to mitigate. I do keep tabs on absolutely anything else though ๐Ÿคฃ

I ordered a bunch of straps from Ali like 3 weeks ago that came in yesterday and I had totally forgotten about them! That stuff I do not mind taking the back burner in my subconscious.

I sold a watch to someone in Austria. Provided all of the relevant information like tracking number. The watch was stopped by their customs and then lost. Even though once it leaves my hands its no longer my responsibility, the buyer hounded me daily asking for updates when he could clearly see that it had arrived in Austria. I'm in Australia!!!! I couldn't know what was going on.

After recommending that they investigate the issue in person, they eventually got the watch after threatening to give me a bad review on Ebay and demand a refund. This person was a genuine nightmare.

There's nothing wrong with being worried about the timely delivery of your watch. Just remember, there's only so much the seller can do. The rest is up to the postal service or courier.

Mate that sounds so petty and naive from the buyer.... Especially when it's clearly out of the seller's hands once the courier picks up the parcel. Yea I wasn't even accusatory, just asked if maybe they knew more? And to clarify if they were shipping by air or boat? It was just hilarious to me that within an hour of my query, the app updated and let me know it was in the country ๐Ÿ˜…made me feel like a d**khead ๐Ÿคฃ

It's a fine line. Both seller and buyer need to behave in a considerate manner. I don't think you went too far. I was just venting lol
