I still think that a Jack Mason minute repeater for under $7500.00 is an enthusiast watch that I would get excited over. The Ellum watch is a beautiful classy dress piece. Well done.
How come you guys always narrow it down to two watches that are light years apart from one another? A dive watch with a day/date vs a military pilot's chronograph.
The 1963 has greater historical significance. It's Sea-Gull ST19 movement being a result of the Swiss Venus calibre 175 purchased in 1955 which put China in the business of building watches. The Chinese air force equipped their pilots with a watch very similar. I would have to go with this choice.
Orient has a great reputation as an inexpensive watch that functions superbly but beyond that it is a dive watch in a sea of dive watches.
