Omega back in the 1930’s was considered at the same level as Patek, when it was an independent company. JLC and VC suffered a similar fate as Omega to a lesser degree.
Now part of a huge luxury group, Omega produced many millions of pieces a year. Patek stays at the pinnacle of watching making. IMHO, Omega climbed to the top of the marketing pinnacle :)
