Sony branded Seiko

From the Daini factory aka King Seiko

This Seiko 7005-8009 from 1973 (birth year watch) was apparently given to Sony employees.

Does anyone else have one or one of the Sony branded Speedtimers? Or have any additional information about these watches?

Love to see your examples…

Agreed! Nearly 50 years old and going strong…gave the crystal a little polish and it looks great!
100% a keeper.

I did have a look for others.. not too many out there, but that is the fun of the search… 😊

My stars! Can you imagine sauntering around…wearing your Sony Seiko while listening to your 1st gen Walkman?

Way cool... and man it makes the branding part of my brain hurt a bit. In a good way.

I have seen similar ones out there…

I've got one. It was my dad's, though I don't know how he acquired it. I've read that they were apparently given as gifts to Sony employees, but my dad never worked for Sony!

Anyway, it's a cool watch but I'd like to know a bit more about them too!

Nice! Does it have the ‘Dainiseikosha’ movement in it?

Yes I found out the same as you. Mine is from 1973…

Supposed to be made for Sony to give to employees and retailers…

Possibly a promotional thing.

Yours does seem to be the same as mine, but I have seen them with different movements.

Even saw one on a Japanese auction site that was boxed and mint condition.

The guy wanted £2250!! 😂

I presume so, but I've never taken the back off to be honest. I can't see how and I don't want to risk damaging it!

£2250?! Wow!

I'm guessing mine would be from about the same time. I was born in 1973 and my dad had the watch for as long as I can remember. He died a long time ago unfortunately - I wish I'd asked him how he got it!

How did you come by your one?

Get a rubber ball…put it against the caseback..twist.

I’m also born in 73. Happy 50th this year!

I found mine on eBay 😂
