Anyone else seeing actual ads for clones on YT, TikTok, Twitter, and other sites?
It feels like the counterfeiters of iconic watches are being bolder & trying to legitimize themselves.
I know we talk about clones & homages a lot, but it feels like...

Definitely not too many original offerings lately. Everything seems to look like something else or has elements of something else.

Jokes aside, yes the uptick in interest in watches in general will always lead to an uptick in interest in "looks the same but costs 1/30th the price!" crowd, which itself has groups of various sentiments regarding "homage vs clomage vs replica vs fake"

To be fair though, I'm not asking to debate the merits (or lack thereof) of clones.
All I'm asking is if we've seen ads for these fakes.
Yes I am seeing straight out counterfeits being offered from multiple sources.

I’ve not seen more ads. I have to go looking for watches. That could also be because I’ve cut waaay back on Web surfing, in general. And I’m much better for it. 😉

My b. On YT been seeing a lot more ads of true fakes, but nowhere else. There has been a lot of solicitation on reddit lately for "superclone" buy groups on whatsapp, but those pages tend to be good at moderating and kick em fast

Quartz vs. automatic, mineral vs. sapphire,vs plexiglass, strap vs. bracelet, deployant vs. deployment, you know-something that isn't often brought up.
I don't see ads on YouTube because I pay for premium. Nothing worse than enjoying a program only to get interrupted by 7 commercials 😡
I have gotten some on Facebook, thankfully it's mostly stuff I actually like. Trying my best to "train" my algorithm.
I don't register ads so they could be on my feeds but I haven't noticed them. Now that it's been brought to my attention I might see some.
FWIW I see quite a few homages that aren't direct copies.

I had a lot of posts I was working on. Quartz vs. pepperoni. Mineral vs. radical feminism. Us-vs.-them-vs. sapphire. Deployment vs. John Deere. Bracelet vs. Dog the Bounty Hunter. But when I looked back on WatchCrunch, every one of them had already been done.
Thank you for the clarifications. I do prefer "copy" to homage. I realize this is splitting hairsprings, but that's what this site is for, isn't it?
