I’ve Changed My Mind about Tudor😮‍💨 My Newest Addition‼️

There are tons of review online so I’m not gonna talk about technical stuff, just my personal feelings.

I’ve been an AP guy since the beginning of my watch journey. Despite the top notch craftsmanship, AP does not produce comfortable watches imho, so I started to look into Rolex and got myself a 116520 (black dial).

Not until recently that I came across the Ranger and Black Bay Pro. Man… I gotta say they absolutely blew my mind🤯

Full disclosure, I bought both of them this month separately at retail.

Tudor is fun, affordable, and accessible. I’d say their bracelet is much more comfortable than my AP 15500. And I don’t need to worry too much about scratching them.

To me AP is a luxury product, I’m always careful when wearing it, hiding it at my back when opening a door, passing a narrow corridor etc. The experience is not enjoyable.

I still won’t say Tudor is luxury, but it’s definitely a premium product, and you’re getting what you paid for.

Then why not Explorer I & II?

  1. I already have some grail watches, I don’t need something in between. I’d rather get some watches for fun, hence Tudor.
  2. They are available at retail…
  3. I feel more special and less intimidating wearing a Tudor in front of friends or meeting clients.

Have you ever felt like upgrading your watch/collection coz it’s not good enough? Like when you have a Seamaster, then you’d want a Sub (don’t judge). Owning the Ranger and BB Pro doesn’t make me wanna get the Explorer I & II😎

I might not be able to answer everything above, but feel free to leave a comment and discuss!

Though I have nothing that comes close to the prices of the watches you own, I do understand exactly where you are coming from.

The key reason I decided to not move up to watches priced above $2-3K CAD is because I don't want to have to think about damage to my watch, or attracting the wrong attention.

Price is not the only factor determining the quality of one’s collection😉 we all love watches

But I gotta say Hong Kong is a relatively safe city. It’s normal rocking a rollie on the streets. (Not sure how many are fake tho…)

As someone in a slightly similar boat, I feel exactly the same way. I've probably worn my BBPro and FXD more than any of my other watches since picking them up, and if I didn't already own a 126270 I'd have nabbed a Ranger as well. Love what the brand is doing right now.

I wear my fancy watches without extra care or caution.  I enjoy them for me and am not going to be denied by fear or worry.

FXD is next on my list🤝

I still tell myself every scratch is a part of my watch story, but I can’t deny the fact that I want to keep my fancy ones as new as possible😂

Each to their own. It’s interesting to hear that you say AP watches are not comfortable, why Is that? Is it a physical wearing comfort, or are you talking about attention? I made the mistake of wearing my Lucifer Bubble last time I was in HK and I found it difficult to navigate boutiques and ADs.

Nice watches! I've been eying the Ranger since it was released. Interesting strategy...I dig it.

·

I agree that Tudor doesn't mean you want a Rolex. I own both brands and like both.
I tried both of these models myself but the Ranger just wasn't my thing but i admit that the BB Pro ist really nice, very good choice :D

That's very exhausting!

The FXD might be the single best release from Tudor and Rolex for the past couple of years. Such an enjoyable watch and they’ve really nailed it.

Having a couple nice watches doesn’t mean you can’t take equal pleasure in more affordable pieces. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

·

I used to sell AP and never found the integrated Royal Oak steel bracelets to be comfortable on my wrist either. I've heard the bracelet on the new Ranger isn't the greatest (a bit sharp), but I haven't tried it myself. I'm targeting the Ranger as my next purchase, but will likely get it on a strap. I think that field watches belong on straps.

·

Out of the Ranger and BB Pro, which is your favorite @TypicalAsian ? Curious to see if you’ve developed a preference yet.

And I am sure you’ll enjoy the FXD, it ticks a lot of boxes.

·

Ok - physical then. Interesting to know. I’ve not spent a lot of time wearing the Royal Oak, rather more en passant when I try one on to see if I still can stomach them. I remember the steel strap being rather inflexible, but just attributed it to the fact that it was new and needed some time to bed in. To be fair I’m not a bracelet fan, and I much prefer silicone/rubber or leather as a strap, so I would almost certainly look at those options.

Good pick witht he tudor as "fun watch"

·

Tudor are on fire right now Great choice.  I am a Ranger fan. Pickin one up soon

·

I’m an AP guy since starting

😳🤯

Dam! 🦫.  That’s a princely beginning!  I began with a 100 buck orange monster.   Your beaters are my grails 😂

100% relate to disliking my nicest watches being scratched up with daily use/abuse.   I tell myself it adds character… but never quite convince myself.  😞
And, with great irony, it’s my cheapest watches that magically remain in mint condition 🙄

Two terrific pieces there. I must try to visit an AD to see the Pro (have handled the Ranger). Tudor have many watches on their books that I really dig.

·

I own both of these and they are both great watches!  Nice additions to the collection for sure!
