China watches

So I wanted to know more about these watch's coming from China that I'm hearing so much about lately, so I punched in a few brands names I'm interested in on a google search and found this wonderful platform. That being said does anyone here know about the Tudor divers watch's on AliExpress? Good, Not so good, bad, Not bad, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Search for reviews of the "major" brands on Aliexpress such as San Martin, Seestern, Seagull, Steeldive, Addiesdive, Heimdallr, Baltany, Sugess, Tandorio, Escapement Time, Cronos, Proxima, Lobinni... These are regarded as good value watches with an impressive finishing for the price, although the majority of them produce only homages.

·

I was looking at a "Pagani" Moon watch homage, the other day a friend of mine purchased on Aliexpress and it looked solid, great build quality. But at a price of $86.00 how good can it be, or rather how long will it run. I'm not apposed at all of watch's from Japan as I own quite a few Seiko diver's watch's. Just don't have any experience with watch's coming out of China

Ya that watch is looming large alright, really a very nice designed, good looking watch for sure. enjoy

Wow talk about a rabbit hole, now I'm looking at the San Martin divers watch's, which all seem to have very good reviews, their prices are a bit more than the others, but they look great. Thanks

I won't buy a fake watch from China as its supporting sweat shops and intellectual property theft.

For $86 dollars you can find out for yourself.

I've not heard anything bad about the watches apart from people who complain about copies/homages, and the occasional dud. You can get duds from all brands though, so I won't worry too much.

I have a Seagull 1963 that works well, is finished nicely enough, and cost me very little compared to other mechanical chronographs.

They are making 60% of the parts for swiss watch industry. That should be proof enough. Just like Louis Vuitton bags they will sell left over to gray market soon.

·

There are Chinese watches that compete well with Swiss and Japanese watches. Look at Atlier Wen. Getting mine around Chinese new year.

316L steel is the same everywhere and most chinese microbrands use Japanese movements, either Seiko NH or Citizen Miyota so they're as durable and easy to service (or replace) as your run of the mill Seiko.

Don't think that because it comes from China it's automatically bad, you would be mistaken. Most of these <$200 watches easily beat Seiko or Orient from a finishing per dollar standpoint. Snobs who dismiss chinese products are just spreading racism on this platform.

Ok well just pulled the trigger on two San Martin Divers Watch's, both have automatic movements one with a Myota movement, and the other with a NH35. Cant beat the price $300 for both, not bad

They are not too bad. I would say consider them on design by design basis. The San Martin Sub homage is great but the BB58 homage leaves something to be desired. While the PAGANI design Dayton is $45 and is finished pretty well and is well worth the $45. I would just say choose accordingly and watch a lot of YouTube lol

Most of the Chinese watches use Seiko NH movements so they are pretty reliable.

Thank you for that, I own a couple old Seiko divers watch's, one from the 1980's the other from 1990, both are quartz and both are still running perfectly to this very day. I'm all in with the Seiko.

·

Ok so I pulled the trigger on the San Martin water ghost V3 with the NH35 automatic movement. The watch arrived a few days ago and to be honest I'm really pleased with this watch. The build quality is exceptional, it looks, and feels great on my wrist, and with a price tag well under $200 (purchased the watch on sale) how can you go wrong, right?

No shoppers remorse here. It's really a very nice watch for sure.

Thank you, I feel welcome

For me, San Martin. You can get the BB pro/GMT homage. I had black BB58 homage before. Good quality and no issues with the PT5000 movement for me. Welcome btw.

·

The San Martin that I own now, and the few others I’ve seen in person really do live up to all the hype that’s been going around lately .
