Nato strap on a dress watch??

What is your opinion on wearing a dress watch with a nato strap? For me, it depends on the watch. I don't do it often, but sometimes, I love to wear my Tissot Visodate on a blue and white nato. I also love natos on my Seiko Sarb (if you consider that a dress watch).

However, I do think that there are a lot of dress watches should never be on a nato. What do you think?

I prefer my Visodate on the leather strap but to each their own!

It can work, as you say, depends on the watch. Seems like Seiko and Tissot both have dress-ish models that avail themselves to NATO. Visodate is clearly dress, but it does work without a doubt.

You do you!

I think it looks good!

I love swapping my straps for a different look, but I've never felt any of my dress watches look ok with a nato.

·

Never tried a nato strap on a dress watch but the blue and white stripe nato with the visodate actually looks good.

For me, large part of the appeal of a dress watch lies in it's thinness, which is somehow negated by NATO straps. Two-piece perlon straps are nice.

I keep my dress watches on dressy straps cause I’m too lazy to swap them.

I think it's the perfect way to dress a fancy watch down for elevating a smart casual outfit, especially in the summer months when shorts may be involved.

That said, it doesn't work for every watch and every strap.

It only works on sports watches that get treated like dress watches imo. A pure dress watch with a nato looks awful.

·

For dressier watches i prefer a perlon strap

I think that can be a killer summer combination. A lazy afternoon outside on a patio, late lunch with friends, lunch progresses into day drinks, fun, laughter and SARB on a colorful striped NATO on the wrist. Sounds great to me.

My general feeling is that Natos don’t quite work for me on the most dressy watches. I don’t have a Saxonia or Calatrava to try a fabric strap on, but my Max Bill automatic seems out of place on a NATO. The SARB035 that I own looks good in my opinion on a single-pass, but I also think the NATO picks up the “sports” dna of the design, something like a Rolex Explorer, OP or Aquaterra on NATO.

And then again, maybe it really is more the person’s fashion and style. I have to wear a shirt and tie for work, so maybe that is why I prefer my Max Bill on something other than a NATO. (And it does look good on a single-pass perlon, IMO.)

Good looking Visodate!
