Marathon Navigator in Stainless Steel

Marathon introduced a Quartz Navigator. Here's what I swiped off of the Marathon website https://youtu.be/R5oHG00V2zY

"With the ETA F06.412 HeavyDrive-PreciDrive Quartz movement, the 41mm Steel Navigator with Date (SSNAV-D) stands out with unmatched precision, featuring accuracy of ± 10s/year. This model also exhibits a date complication - a first for any Steel Navigator since the design’s initial launch in the 1980’s. The SSNAV-D is built from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel with a screw-down crown and synthetic sapphire crystal, making it operational even when submerged to 10ATM (100m/300ft).The refreshed case design features enhanced lug tapering, providing a comfortable fit making the SSNAV-D ideal for all-day wear. The increased height of the 12HR GMT bezel is specially designed to provide improved grip, allowing pilots to easily handle the bi-directional rotation while wearing flight gloves. The bezel also features inset-painted indices, enhancing the legibility of the markings.Self-contained tritium gas tubes on the hour markers, and minute/hour hands ensuring constant visibility in low-light environments. Tritium tubes are self-illuminating, containing an isotope of hydrogen that won't dull down over time like photoluminescent paint, meaning the watch will remain fully legible at all hours.Protecting the dial of the SSNAV-D is a highly durable sapphire crystal. This allows the watch to withstand extreme changes in air pressure – necessary for the watch’s use by military pilots at altitudes of over 5000ft – while also providing scratch resistance and pristine clarity. The SSNAV-D is Swiss-made and Canadian-designed for premium quality and craftsmanship."

It looks great. Making a metal version will no doubt make more people interested in the Navigator. I just wished they would use a black date wheel, I'd look so much cleaner that way.

Agreed, the white date does break the dial up. Maybe the contrast is designed for easy legibility? 🤔

Wow!! I love my plastic Navigator (wears light) but this steel version looks like a million bucks - and I need to look into the precise movement. Hopefully it becomes an Instagram favourite so I look good for being an early adopter 🙃

I ordered mine at about 5 min after it launched, Marathon has advised that it may take 7-10 business days to get processed as they expect demand to be very high.

Haven’t seen a Marathon irl but in pictures they are stunning. I don’t know what it is. The depth of the dial seems amazing, like oil filled (are they?). They really stand out in a crowd, in a good way.

Looks like another stellar hit from Marathon. Should sell a lot.

They are simple and awesome. The dial has depth because of the Tritium lume. The specs are larger than the watch wears. The large GSAR or Artic is incredible. Even the stock band is great. I don't have the bracelet. Keep in mind this is not Submariner fit and finish. There is something tool cool about Marathon watches

This is my GSAR. I don't own a quartz Marathon

I love it and wish it could be slightly cheaper? It’s well over $1k over at my side.

Marathon has a sale at least twice a year where their watches are marked down 20%. Maybe get on their email list for a while. The quartz models will be sub1k on sale for sure

I really hope so. Lol

For sure. Almost everyone I know with a Marathon has purchased during a sale. You have to be ready to act when the email comes in. Many models sell out quickly

The thought of a tritium diver has been appealing to me. With the half life of tritium being 12 years, curious what the cost of is to replace? Of course lume doesn’t last forever either, and I have no idea what the half life on that is.

Hmmm.... no idea. I imagine Marathon has some dial replacement available

This is what I paid to have my GSAR from 2010 serviced, and parts replaced.

The dial was $105, the hands were $65. I needed a full service and a new crown/tube, but they didn’t have the one that for the old case, so I had to get a new case assembly as well.

Really liking the look of this. Some of the coolest watches, IMO, are the actual vietnam issued Type I/II's along with the Raider Rolexes. The stories they could tell...

A Mk II Blackwater was my dream watch for a very long time. The Benrus reissues are very nice, but I honestly wish they came with drilled lugs or fixed lugs.

This all steel Navi is probably going to be the asymmetrical style watch I end up getting. More so that they improved the OG Gallet/ADANAC case with more curve to the lugs and case back. Love single pass straps, but anything that helps lower the height for coat sleeves and gloves is a win.

I agree on the MKII Blackwater. I do like the taper on the bracket but not a big fan of the integrated design. I am drawn to the Blue Dial Shellback. I have a few black dial divers so maybe the blue sticks out. Have to say I love the Marathon GSAR more than any Submariner I have owned as a daily wear. Of the Submariner came out in Titanium maybe... but that would be tons of money and years waiting

Thank you. That’s far cheaper than I expected.

I second this. I love my quartz MSAR and got it on sale with the bracelet and the rubber strap. Several ADs in the USA that are great to work with too if you don’t wanna order from Marathon, like Watchmann or Windy City Watch Collector.

If my wrist were a little bit larger, I would love to have the navigator, but I’ll keep on with my Quarts MSAR for now.

After a few weeks, my Navigator has not deviated even 1 second against the internet clock I used to initially set. Very impressed by it.

This watch is a gem! Plan to see one on my wrist very soon
