Citizen has better quality control and their solar movements are killing it. Seiko used to be better but they cheaped out on quality control so badly the microbrands kill them with their own movements adding better bracelets and sapphire for less money. Citizen 9 series high beat has better specs than the Seiko equivalent and is thinner. The noise thing is not important because I can hear Seiko rotors too. Here comes the "but my Seiko is......"
Actual market numbers say Citizen... but since this is the "watch community" Seiko will clearly win.
Citizen for build quality and value. Seiko for design.
Having owned pieces from both manufacturers over the past forty years I would say that Seiko has declined and Citizen has improved. The hype around Seiko means it will likely win in this poll but most certainly doesn't deserve to IMHO.
Design wise Seiko still leads, but Citizen is on the upswing on the design ethos front. Citizen increasingly gives you better value and already exceeds Seiko in quality control.
Seiko has the wider and more beautiful portfolio. Citizen do them better.
Tough! A decade ago, I’d have said Seiko with my chest. Lately I’d give the edge to Citizen
