I collect wristwatches just for my own personal enjoyment. I like all kinds of watches, whether it's nostalgia I feel wearing a Casio F-91W, to appreciating higher-end Cartier/IWC brands that I can't afford but admire from afar.
I bought a Daniel Wellington watch and realised there was more to watch design and history than succumbing to surface style. I watched an 'Urban Gentry' video and since then been grateful to TGV & all watch enthusiasts who've taught me so much about time pieces & the rich history.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The original Casio F-91W black strap.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Probably a Baby-G watch I bought myself just a few years ago. I've so much nostalgia memory attached to it.
Whenever I look at it now I remember how I really wanted one originally in the 90s. My parents couldn't afford it but they still tried to make me happy buying a cheap imitation of it called 'boby-g', which I wore so happily as a young kid. It makes me ☺.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Remember to make yourself happy with a watch that makes you smile or feel great!
Monetary value of a watch should never be at the forefront of buying it, only style / comfort / functionality / happiness should.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Rotary, Orient, Casio, Hamilton, Longines
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The Cartier 'Tank' is the one for me. It's timeless classic-chic style is so beautiful.
