What’s the difference between flexing and passion?

A lot of people flex nowadays.Sometimes this can be misconstrued.

Some people have great passion and just want to share it with others.

Are you a flexer or just a fellow whorologist like me ?

I'm a flasher, only on WC though. To many, I have some expensive watches but none are flex-worthy (no Rolex, no PP, no VC, no JLC).

·

People who flex buy luxury watches primarily to show off their wealth above all else.

Collectors don't.

·

Wearing something the cost of a car on my wrist makes me feel uncomfortable, so I'm going to go with "because I like them"

Great comments guys

To me, flexing is displaying what others are expected to be impressed with. Passionate is about sharing what you love, not what others might be impressed with.

I’m passionate about several hobbies that impress no one.

Honestly this isn’t so much about the watch as it is the vibe of the person. If you’re a garbage person it doesn’t matter the watch bc I’m just gonna think you’re flexing no matter what.

I'm going to say this but might be wrong. I've found that here on Watch Crunch i don't get a flex vibe. It blows my mind that i can post my cheap watches here and get all kinds of love from others crunchers. I can post a cheap casio or $9 watch right next to someone who just posted a Rolex or Omega and get kudos and love. And the people posting the expensive watches here, seem to have that same dorky passion i have. Crunchers seem to just want to share without showing off. I love it here.

I’m a flexer.

Other than “watch people” NO ONE cares what watch you’re wearing. I wear my watches for me an only me. I’ve had more comments on a Citizen ProMaster than I have on my Seadweller.

IMO a passionate collector wears what they love for their own satisfaction. If they see a watch they like on someone else they may compliment that person. Price & Popularity of a brand is rarely if never the focus of wearing or sharing a watch. You will notice most watches photographed on WWAUW (or whatever that acronym is) usually displays a watch on wrist. Passion for the watch supersedes what car, house, plane etc you own. I get as fired up seeing a great Casio as I do one of the Holy Trinity. I have the ability to purchase any watch I want. I own what I love including some great Casios 👍. I always get the vibe someone posing next to a supercar wearing an expensive watch doesnt own the car, is wearing a fake or maxed their credit card to buy a watch and really needs therapy for their Look At Me issues

Just passion for watch collecting! Not flexing in my opinion.

·

Easy to tell. People who flex have no passion for collecting watches that aren't hype (no less than a Rolex Date just) or at a modest price range.

·

Simply put, flexing is for someone else and horologists couldn't care less really if someone else likes there watch. I just love looking at every detail of a watch and do enjoy sharing especially with fellow horologists that get into the fine well thought out details of a watch. I agree with everyone here. It's based on passion. Either you have it or you don't. Cheers!! Beautiful set of 5 watches you have on the wrist today by the way!!!! 😂😍😊

I'm a watch enthusiast - I only wear watches for myself and my enjoyment. Anybody who likes, appreciates, or comments on the watch I am wearing is just a bonus.

I hate flexing - around it a lot in my corporate environments and I despise it in all its forms.

I have the good sense to be embarrassed by my interest in watches
