Humble watch enthusiast/collector. Big fan of vintage watches initially due to their smaller size and my modest wrist size, and now because of the stories they carry and the environmentalist in me thinks buying used just feels right.
My enthusiasm for watches is a direct result of my queerness. Growing up, I was never really into adorning myself with different types of jewelry like most of the women in my friend circle or family would. Instead, I found myself attracted to the utility that watches could offer and imagined, kind of romantically, that guys who wore wristwatches at all were cool, sophisticated, and thus, could get the ladies. I wanted to be like those guys. Little did I know, watch collecting is for nerds 😂
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
First watch?
A digital DKNY watch that I loved. Because my mom bought it for me.
First real watch?
A vintage Mervos Minu-Stop parking meter watch. Because it's just darn cool.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Yes, but I don't own it. An artist/watchmaker named a watch after me. And that's all I can say...for now.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Start low and go slow
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
