Hmm... always saw my Old Man sport two-tone Seiko's in the 80s/90s. I remember my first Swatch watch from grade school. I've owned a lot of watches over the years but was never good about keeping or maintaining them... during the pandemic I entered the rabbit hole by watching Hodinkee vids on YouTube... here I am now.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
A Swatch watch in grade school... during the days of the Color Craze!
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My first legit, Grown Man watch is the Rolex Explorer 114270 from 2003. It was a few years after college graduation and have re-fallen into love with her during the pandemic. This watch represents "making it." Also, the fact that it's on the smaller side (36mm) to match my smaller wrist, means she stays proportional, very versatile, undercover, and pure class.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Wear what you want. Watches are meant to be worn. Appreciate all watches, vintage to modern. Pick ones that speak to you.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
