Specs or Heritage?

Seiko 5 GMT vs Zelos Blacktip GMT. They both can be had for about the same money and both have the same movement (4R34/NH34). Would you go for the specs of the Zelos or the history of Seiko?

I like the Zelos for the same reason. Hehe

Specs wise definitely Zelos is better plus I really like the 62mas case but the hands and hour markers on the Zelos just don't doesn't work. I personally was so close to pulling the trigger on the turquoise dial but the hands design kept me away.

The Seiko is more clean and done well. Either way you can't go wrong with one or other. Go for the one you like, but I guess the meteorite Zelos is currently not available.

Honestly I could not make my mind either and got them both. The Teal one did it for me; as well as, the orange Seiko.

I only voted Zelos because I'd love to have a Zelos, But dare I say it I have no need or want for a watch with a GMT hand.

Zelos all day, spec wise and look wise !

I was holding off the Seiko as I was looking for better specs (sapphire) and am not a cyclops enthusiast but I got a great deal on a brand new “Batman” and am more impressed with the Seiko than I expected to be (cyclops, clasp and lack of sapphire being the main negatives to note for me). There will be better GMTs to come but I would go for the Seiko over the Zelos (especially if you get it at a great price). I agree that the Zelos hands (hour and minute hands) are a weakness in that they lack precision. Zelos do make great watches and hopefully they will improve on this one.

That nato choice is fucking fire. Looks soooo good with that Dial and bezel. Amazing choice.

I prefer SSK003 over SSK001/SSK005. Black is too boring (in this model) and silver on bezel don't have magic. Also I didn't understand why SSK005 don't have orange on bezel oO. But blue one have it, beautiful flashing and color play.

One minus for Seiko because arrow shaped minute hand with arrow shaped GMT hand and sword shaped hour hand. Over all legibility is very good, but for beginning I often read wrong time.

Zelos have 2 points for me sapphire crystal (but I've got Seiko for testing Hardlex IRL 😆 ) and bracelet looks more interesting.

You don't wear "heritage", you wear a watch. If one company offers a better watch(specs, finishing, QC) for the same money, you're better off with the better watch.

Aesthetically, Seiko. Wish they were 39mm

I own that Seiko and its plenty nice. That Zelos is a great piece too so there isn't a bad choice here.

Get what you like. Heritage and specs don’t matter to anyone. Impress yourself.
