Should I pull the trigger?

Hi all hope you're having a great morning (or afternoon, or whatever). I've been on the hunt for my next purchase for about a month now. One of my earlier posts was asking for suggestions and I thank you for those. I liked the "5KX", went into my local department store and every single one had a misaligned bezel. So I decided to look elsewhere and found this little beaut. The "Dress K X". It's got a faint whiff of Tudor BB36 wouldn't you say? I'll have the money for it in a month or two I just wanted to know your thoughts/ shift the blame a little 🤣🤣

"But honey, Artman on Watchcrunch told me to buy it"😂

·

More versatile than the 5KX, dressier yet still sporty. A timeless design but not boring. Dot it!

·

Do it lovely watch 👍

·

I really like the mixture of indices and the hand set. Very nice 👌

·

I would go for the guilt dial version :) had the grey one, strap monster.

·

just do it. for the sake of your sleeping time 😂

·

If you like it, if you can afford it, than… just do it ;)

and keep in mind that if you are not happy with it just let it go and buy another one (and another one… and another one… and… - that is how this beautiful madness begins) 😂😂😂

·

No… don’t do it.

(ignore me, just fancied breaking the narrative for a second…)

If you’ll wear it, then why not.

·

no, you could do better, get 2 watches.

that sounded like Emperor Palpatine... LOL

At your age I'd stick to quartz watches. Your watch taste is still constantly evolving and by the time the battery runs out you want something different altogether anyway.

And then you might just get a Lorus, e.g. the RH921LX9. Lorus is a Seiko brand. Saves you a ton of money.

·

You are in the right place to shift blame, do it!!!..hahaha

·

I had this in my hands at the Hudson Bay department store.  And there was something that just didn't sit right for me.  The metal felt cheap and light for the price point.  I wanted to like it and I wanted to love to wear it.  But I didn't 😥. Maybe it was because I had my custom built Bliger next to it 🤔

It's your hard earned money, and you can only spend each dollar (or pound as the case may be) once. Any funds that you use for this one won't be available to buy anything else, so you're the only one who can make the decision for yourself as to whether or not this is the best option for you at the moment. Don't let other people decide what you spend your money on.

I'm personally not into Seikos, so I can't offer any advice in terms of whether or not this is a good watch for the money or not.

I'm highly satisfied with my SRPE53. It is pleasantly simple, and great as an everyday watch. It has all the he pros and cons of the newer Seiko 5s. It is however not a Tudor substitute, meaning that it's more about being able to wear your 5KX at work, without being particularly refined.

The 53 is the blue dial on the bracelet right? I'm stuck between that one, classic black or grey. How does the bracelet feel is it cheap and nasty or is it decent?

Note to self: try before I buy. Thanks mate 👍

If you like it sure, but think about how it will fit into your collection and if it feels special on the wrist.

Thanks for your input mate. I've been properly into watches for about 4 or 5 years now and I feel like I've almost "outgrown" only quartz if that makes sense?  Currently I only have one mechanical watch and I love it to bits with the vast majority of my collection being quartz. I love my quartz's but none of them give me the same joy as seeing the rotor spinning. I guess I'm trying to chase the dragon again?

It is typical Seiko 5, the same as on my SRPG27. Brushed with a stamped clasp, and pins instead of screws. It will feel rattly in the hand, but wears nicely and will last. You can get aftermarket bracelets for the SRPE if you are so inclined. I personally don't mind the bracelet, as it is just fine once on your wrist.

Honda vfr800 vtec my body can't take the all out sports bikes anymore getting too old lol. As for the watch the seiko 5 is a great place to start your watch journey and should last you years 👍

Before you pull the trigger……..shop around for good quality mods, there are many variations and they give a certain exclusivity.

What is that one trying to be? It’s like a Panerai stole the seconds hand from a pilot-Valjoux chronograph but not the rest… it’s a very odd mix.

·

I haven’t a clue if it’s “trying” to be something, I just like it, and it gets more comments than my Rolex. Beauty is in the eye……..and all that.

Fair play - it’s curious because most Seiko mods I see take their cues from something, and I was getting a faint Italian diver vibe until I saw the airplane seconds hand. Not knocking it, was interested to know a bit more about it.

·

It’s an SKX mod obviously, I just saw it and the madness meant I just had to have it, its so legible and unique .

I think some mods are trying to emulate a particular watch and some are just put together to see how they look, this is one of those. My personal opinion is that if we all possessed the expertise  to mod watches there would be a lot more out there…… good bad or pure ugly.

That's funky. How much is left of the base watch? I'm guessing just the 7S26 and possibly the case, right?
