Help me decide... field watch edition

Some weeks ago I posted about been on the lookout for a field watch, with a small case diameter, a short lug to lug measurement and a price of 200$/200€ maximum. I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions, but they were mostly over my budget, too big or available in other parts of the world only. This also made me look on my own for more options and information. I've chosen this because I like the vintage size and the specs the specs they offer. Here is the final collection that I've ended up with. Price wise there are in the same range under 200€ Spec wise, all have quartz movements, sapphire crystals and similar dimensions with the only difference been: ●The GG-W-113 Homage has no date and a Seiko VH31A (meca quartz), stainless steel case, push-pull crown, snap case back and C3 lumen. ●The Momentum has an Epson VX82E with date, titanium case, screw down crown and case back and superluminova. ●The Hamilton has an ETA 955.412 with date, stainless steel case, push-pull crown, screw down case back and superluminova. Except the Hamilton which is a second hand comes with papers but no box, the other two are new. Please chime in and give me your opinion or offer a 4th option if you think I'm making a mistake with either of these. Thanks!

What is your wrist size?

What is your wrist size?

5.9in or 6in, depends how swell it is. Also quite round, so anything above 41mm lug to lug just overhangs. I just tend to like small or vintage size watches, having tested one on a jewelry recently just tip the scale to 32mm, 33mm or 34mm.

That is helpful, thank you. I’ll always recommend the Hamilton. It’s meant to take a beating, can be easily fixed, and while the lugs are long-ish, still fits what you are looking for.

Hammy time…can’t touch this

·

take a look at the SWC Bunker too...tough to beat the specs...I love mine

I actually tested the Hamilton in person, because I'm buying it from a town acquaintance the lug to lug is 40mm, 40.2mm if you include the strap thickness. It's the model H68311633 which was the ladies version of the Khaki Quartz and unfortunately has been discontinued as of 2023.

Thank for your recommendation. Unfortunately it's too big at 41mm and quite long at 46mm it would just overhang also not available right now.

I don't think the other on your list can beat the hammy, but the momentum is good enough of an alternative too

·

Just throwing this into the pot, cheap as chips automatic and tough as old boots

44mm lug to lug if that suits you. Very very light and comfy.

Loaded with features for well under 200. Titanium, sapphire, radio, flashlight, alarms, timers, etc.

I saw it in my cousin wrist, asked him if I could try it on because it was the first Casio I ever saw with multiband 6 and looked like that (I normally just see the classic f-91w) unfortunately the lug to lug make it overhang and looks ridiculously oversized compared to his weight lifter arms. And also well over my budget at 250€ or 274$.

For me, anything above a 37mm case looks like I'm trying to compensate for something.

Fair enough.

By the way it shouldn't cost that much. I got it from Japan for 160 dollars.

I mean they sell it in a nearby city jewelry for that price. Or at least something similar.

I'm able to find it on the Addiesdive oficial Web page the MY-H2, unfortunately the 39mm case size already put it off and the 49mm lug to lug would definitely make the watch overhang on my 5.9in wrists.

·

I actually tried it on, the almost 45mm lug to lug which are somewhat flat make it overhang on my 5.9in wrists.

I mean it's a good brand, but I also have read reports of newly made Hamilton watches having condensation under the cristal so considering the fact that this watch has around a decade of wear because of the movement installed been the 7 jewels one as opposed to the 3 jewels installed on the last batches of this model it's worth sending to inspect it, in the little time I had it in my hands it didn't have that problem.

I think the Hamilton will fit you well and is a fine choice.

I specifically looked for a downsized Hamilton Khaki Field, which I tried on but the case size and lug to lug make it a deal breaker for me. So I found the, now discontinued, model H68311633 which was the women version of the Khaki Field in quartz which is smaller and thinner than its mechanical version. As I wanted a grab and go watch.

It feels like you are wearing nothing on the wrist during the short time I tried it on.

I've got it !, what about the 36mm Baltany quartz dirty dozen style watch ?

Image

Had a few Baltany watches nice, I still have the sold out 42mm hand wind version of this.

The 42mm versión would be too big for my 5.9in wrists and the 36mm due to be quite round the 43.2mm would make it overhang, not much but enough to feel it not sit flush.

It looks like searching for ladies watches will get the size you need, just seen some good looking Momentum watches on Amazon, I have handled a few Momentums and I quite like them, anyways that's me throwing in the towel lol best of luck!

I appreciate the recommendation, I just whish I didn't have lab skeleton wrists added to the fact that I like vintage size watches after tried them on doesn't help either.

A few weeks ago I bought the Alba (Seiko Japanese sub brand) model AEFD557 on Amazon for $58.00. It's 36.8mm, 18mm strap,100mWR, beautiful inky black dial, and SOLAR. Has no lume though, if that's a deal breaker.

I already considered that watch when I was looking for a field watch and the lack of lume put me off

Good day everyone,

After a week of the poll being posted and since the majority of the votes are for the Hamilton I decided to buy it. In two weeks or so you will have a review of the watch after it arrives and I have time to wear it.

I just want to thank everyone for participating and helping me decide.
