[Review Armitron Rubik] An exchange for the best

This month my cousin bought an Armitron from Amazon US as an affordable alternative to the ever scarce Casio A1000. Unfortunately he didn't like, decided to return it but the cost where as much as the price of the watch so he was better off keeping it.

I have been wearing my Casio A1000 on and off and even though I like it it doesn't feel like the old Marlin, when I hear about my cousins purchase I proposed an exchange, his Armitron for my Casio to which he instantly said yes. I know the exchange is a bit unfair due to the price difference but I don't mind it as it was a barter more than a purchase and also because he really wanted an A1000 but couldn't find it.

After wearing it for a couple of weeks, I think this Armitron is what the Casio A1000 should had been an stainless steel case watch with a snap-off back, 50m water resistant and an improved movement. Pretty much a copy of the old Marlins from 80s and 90s.

With its 34mm in width, 40mm lug to lug and 9mm thickness I think it does a good job of replicating the old digital watches made by Armitron and other brands such as Seiko, Citizen and Casio. In fact it does such a good job that my aunt asked if it was a Citizen from the 80s similar to the one from the image, which she had during much of her youth.

If I had to complain about something it would be the LED backlight which is similar the the one the F91 has and not been available in Europe, as I think this will sell well as I had more middle aged people asking me where I got it.

In summary a good digital watch for the fans or vintage Casio Marlins, retro watches or OCD which want a simetrical watch instead of the regular three pushers ones.
