Divers Dilema: Part 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Good day watch afficionados, They said second parts were never good, but during holidays, I went to a jewelry store where they sold the Certina DS Action 34.5mm to my surprise even though the watch looked perfect the bezel took half of the face making the dial so small that I needed to put it in my eyes to be able tell the time. While I was there I had the opportunity to try other "small" divers but the above 40mm size made it top heavy and awkward to fit, I even had the chance to see the newest Seiko SJE093 the actual reedition of the 62MAS which was already sold and waiting for its new owner. My search kept going for a vintage diver until I came across Squale, more specific the Super-Squale model which is much more available through Europe than Aquastar. I think both will fit, especially the Aquastar, due to having tried on my friend 62MAS homage from Seestern and having similar measurements. Again I ask you to help me decide which one to get and if you have any experience with any of them or images on small 6in wrist. Cheers!

They both look fine to me, however you are the person who has to pay for & wear the watch, so you need to make your own decision.

I know, unfortunately I'm quite undecisive and end up asking people to help me decide.

Sometimes they see things that don't look correct or even share their experiences with said items.

I’d normally go for the Aquastar but I picked the Sqaule because there’s no date.

I picked the Aquastar, but I don’t think you could go wrong with either one.

Aquastar is WAY too long L2L. I wouldn't buy a Squale...overrated and definitely overpriced.

The lug to lug length of the Aquastar, which is 47mm but due to the position of the lug holes is more like a 43mm, is not a problem as you can see. This is a Seestern homage from my friend and it doesn't fit all that bad

.I understand that Squale is a bit overprice, but which watch is not now days.

Now that you say it, why don't you propose a similar style watch.

47mm with a flat case is just too long. If the lug ends are hanging over the edge of the wrist, to me at least, it just looks goofy. L2L is far more significant than case width when it comes to what I consider a good fit. I won't wear over 46mm and that is with a flat topped 18cm wrist.

No one should need a rec on a similar style to the mentioned Squale. Just about every brand has a similar watch including Citizen's latest JDM divers. Plenty of microbrand options out there as well.

I would take Steinhart over Squale all day, every day for the money. I just don't get Squale...largely homage watches. But that is just my opinion.

The case in both watches are curved, as you can see. First one is Squale and the second one is Aquastar.

As you said Citizen also has one but limited to Japan, which means extra taxes and fees. The lug length of said watch is about 51mm so longer than both.

By that logic, Steinhart is also a homage brand as the majority of their dive watch catalogue are just Rolex Submariner or Explorer lookalikes.

I don't own a Steinhart. Have owned several but barring the Titanium Ocean One, was unimpressed.
