Did I just order my “exit watch?”

After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided on (and have just ordered) the Islander “Ghost” Bayport.

If any of you remember my post from a couple of weeks ago, this is the watch I decided on as the second in (what became) a 2-watch reward for getting fit again. The other was the G-Shock I posted on the 5th of this month (total cost of both watches: $452).

And now I think I’m done.

I never thought I’d get here, but I think my collection has hit critical mass. It would take weeks of wearing one watch per day to cycle through all of them, and I just don’t think I need another after this. I am contented. I am satiated. I have enough watches.

Is this how it ends for me? Not with a bang but with a Bayport?

Congrats for getting out of the game. Feel free to send me any unused watches 😂

The hype/marketing one wades through watching YouTube videos, reading blogs, and getting on forums for any hobby can sometimes push one over the edge past rational thought in terms of legitimizing (extreme) materialism and in some cases promoting negative psychological behaviors. Many of us have been there. The question is when is enough enough. It’s a personal decision and you’ve decided what you have in your collection is enough. I applaud you for knowing when to stop the purchase phase of the hobby for your situation and be content in the great choices you’ve already made for your watch box.

Love my Islander diver (ISL-02)

My guess, this feeling will be temporary.

I've sat on 8 watches for some time and although I still don't have any urge to buy anything, I'm now at a point where, if something interesting came up and didn't cost a bomb, I'd at least entertain it.

So feelings can change, but I have no doubt this is a real feeling that will last some time.

Nothing wrong with a 2 watch collection, you have it covered. Am Islander on my list one day.

I have a lot more than two (too many, one might say); these are just the most recent. That said, the thought of downsizing to only a couple is tempting. I doubt that will happen, though. 😂

That’s entirely possible. 🤷‍♂ Time will tell.

Mmm, god luck with that. You might reached your critical mass but you can keep your mass but swap and up/downgrade the items. That is my guess of what will happen. Congratulation to your last (latest) watch👍

Yeah, I’m guessing this is what will happen.

Ah hah! Good ol’ exit watch syndrome. Yes, I’ve seen this before. Just a case of the lusts and loves converging, the fireworks will die down eventually. A new model will come out. This one will get worn in. The collection will call once again.
