What do you think??

Dave Portnoy is known for a lot of things but watches are not one of them

Good video!  I think if Dave was offering a decent value proposition, everyone would be excited. The designs are meh IMO, but to each his own.

The field watch seems like a sub $1500 watch and the Chrono seems like a sub $750 watch. This creates a marketing problem. Maybe if he would have used a Mecca-quartz in the chronograph, he could have offered them both for the same price, about half the list price, and received some applause for his daring effort.

I applaud the simplicity of design, even if the branding and slogan are ... not my cup of tea. I would normally assume that this was an unrealistic "anchor price" which nobody was expected to pay,  and that there would be eternal hefty sales and discounts, but his tirade seems to counter that supposition.

This is a huge market research failure. My guess is that they found out that his base has a decent number of affluent enough people, but made the errant assumption that these same people were as naive and impressionable as the customers for Daniel Wellington, MVMT, VIncero, etc.

This might've flown during some economic boom when frivolous expenditures were rampant, but the market now is not one for new entrants in luxury pricing. People want known entities, and this ain't that. Furthermore, his angry response reeks of being pissed that he was found out.

I agree if he did a little market research and he priced them to sell to his fans the watches wouldn't be that bad!

Hahah I couldn't agree more his reaction shows that he even knows he was had. And yes in a better market with better branding definitely it could have worked. But the price isn't where it should be

I have a strong feeling almost all of his inventory will be grateful to be sold at TJMaxx for $49.99 within 3 months, but I am not sure they will even take it.
