San Martin BB GMT Homage

Just got my self the BB GMT homage with a Pepsi bezel from San Martin off of eBay. I am really enjoying this watch. For the price, the little details put into it are pretty amazing. My favorite detail is that they made the bezel bi-directional AND 24 clicks that perfectly line up with each hour! If anyone else is familiar with homage watches they would know that those kinds of details are left out often.

The only disappointment, and it’s pretty big one, is that the end links with the bracelet do not seem to match with the lug holes for the watch! The tolerances are just slightly off so the spring bar does not fully set, allowing for me to pull the bracelet off with a small tug. Now it’s not too big of an issue as I have other SM bb58 homages that have endlinks that still fit! Either way I ordered the jubilee bracelet from San Martin and plan to rock this watch on the jubilee anyways. Otherwise the watch is still amazing in my opinion and I am do not regret purchasing it as I got it for a fair price compared to San Martins selling price.

What are your opinions of San Martin’s watches?

Congrats 🍾 on the new pick up. Never had the pleasure for getting SM and I turned to building my own homages before I could pull the trigger but I have only heard good things from them and probably would have out a few in my collection had I not picked up building watches and enjoying that process as much as I have.

San Martin seems to have a positive reputation for quality timepieces at a reasonable cost - right up my alley. Eventually I'll pick one up, though not a diver (have too many already).

Nice! I am wanting to get into building some too. I am wanting to build a milsub homage. I got the tools and have taken apart, and done some minor repairs to my watches. I am basically looking to put it together with parts from aliexpress. Case with the acrylic dome and aluminum bezel, a NH35 movement, and a patina looking dial and hands to match. It does not seem to far fetched for myself to build somthing like that.

Any stores, or websites you recommend for a shopping parts?

You just need better fitting spring bars. Looks good otherwise

I'd contact the customer service about the issue, they have a reputation as pretty good. I jumped in to the SM pool a couple months ago on a ceramic Pepsi and love it. Want to add the Sprite color and your model in the future also. Did you get the newest version with the quick adjust clasp?

Used off eBay came with the standard micro adjustment clasp. The jubilee that is shipping will be the new clasp! My blue bb58 and pelagos SM’s both have the on the fly clasps and I love them! San Martin has the best bracelets in the homage game I think. To be honest I don’t find it worth it to bother with contacting them since I plan on running it on the jubilee and my other SM bracelet fits it good enough for me. If anything I have an extra bracelet and spare screws/links/clasp if I ever need them!

I normally grab my stuff from AliExpess honestly. I also bought a kit from DIY watch club once but they can be pricey

Looks more like a Coke bezel than a Pepsi in the photos. Not that it matters, I don't drink either of them 😂

Quality going down fast in my experience. At the beginning cheaper and almost perfect. Now a lot more expensive, often not regulated any more, problems with the thread of my screw down crown which they deny and did everything to avoid responsibility (not accept the return, but the crown could not be screwed down). Telling me that my problem is impossible because of their perfect quality control. Delay my claim until Aliexpress refunded the watch for me because San Martin was not cooperating. I think the great days of San Martin are over and other Aliexpress brands are now almost as perfect as San Martin at the beginning at a lower price. Arrogance has kicked in in my opinion. This is my experience owning 3 San Martin's. The last one was the problematic one.

I like San Martin. I am looking at the Chinese New Year version. They offer ridiculous value for money.

I have 5 SM watches and would highly recommend every one of them, their 62Mas is banging. Thought about trying a springbar with a wee bend in it?

I wouldn't by a SM from Aliex, I'd go direct to their store, been informed they're being cloned now.

I look at DIY watch club versus buying a SM, I think I saved a few dollars. That’s after purchasing the watch, adjustable on the fly clasp, and several watch bands.

I own the Tudor BB GMT. However, the one thing I prefer with the San Martin over my Tudor is the red text for GMT, well done to San Martin for getting that right. Great pick up dude!

I’ve considered that many times, and while I own homages, I think I may buy their new original GMT Pepsi or root beer. You can put your SM GMT on SM’s jubilee bracelet with the tool-free adjust claps. Its sold separately

I ordered exactly that!

Good experiences so far, but time will tell.
