Opinions on Serica

Hey Crunchers!

I'm currently in Paris this week and I've been eyeing the Serica watches, particularly the 5303-3 model. However, before making the purchase, I'd love to gather some insights from those who have experience with Serica timepieces.

If you own a Serica watch or have had the chance to explore their collections, I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts and experiences!

Really nice one! Do you mind to share your feedback? 😁

No problem 😊

Had mine (4512) since November 2021 and has been the only watch on my wrist 99% of the time since then. Incredible finishing for the price, but it's the inky deep black enamel dial alongside the crispiest printing I've seen that makes it feel extra premium.

Wore it hiking mountains in Wales, exploring mayan ruins in Mexico, hoping to the pool and sea, wore it for my wedding, and it never looked out of place.

The co-owner and designer Jérôme is extremely passionate about his designs and what means to havea watch as a life companion, having a chat in the Paris boutique even if i didn't buy anything was such a good experience.

Had a problem with my movement 2 years this last November, sent an email to them and no questions asked they sent me a shipping label to send it back, since i lost the original box i sent it as i could, came back with the movement replaced for a new one and a new original box alongside it.

Planning on keeping my entire life this little companion and probably add more Sericas to my collection.

I recommend that you go to both Serica's boutique and Baltic. You'll see the difference in quality, both in the people behind but also in the watches.

Thank you so much for your detailed experience. Love to hear that. It looks you had quite a lot of adventures together. I hope I will get the same bond! 🙂

Very curious about your Serica vs Baltic comment. What has your experience been? How do the two brands fare against each other?

·

Serica's boutique was like entering their studio at home, and start talking about watches have a coffee and try their pieces. The pieces have more soul to them imo and they just feel nicer (then again they are more expensive). Baltic's boutique is difficult to find, i was unsure it was there since the complex they're in is shared too so it felt a little shady hahaha. The guy just said hi there are the pieces you can try any as you like but it was mostly in silence amd now and then responding to some questions. There's also the fact at Serica you get to talk to Jérôme who really designed each piece vs an employee at Baltic who may not be as passionate about the designs (the again Jas the designer of half the lineup lives in Asia so)

I really enjoy mine.

Their design language is their own 𝘢𝘯𝘥 on point and the quality is there.

Nothing else to say - highly recommended.

Had my black dial 5303 since it launched and still wear it regularly. Since then many other micro-brand purchases have been and gone. I can only second @Apologos opinion. Be aware there were some issues with the first gen Soprod movements and Serica's response to some caused some bad press, but mine has been faultless and it's just so stylish.

Thank you for sharing.

What I like about them is that they are not trying to copy/homage any other watch.

It is more unique :)

It is definetely beautiful.

On the Internet I read comments about the improvements of the movement after the second generation has been released.

I hope it is true 😁

I have the non-chronometer version of this Serica. It does look very sharp with the light blue bezel and the dark blue (almost black) dial. Finishing is great. One thing I didn’t like is that the Milanese strap doesn’t fit me as well as it should (the shortest setting is still a bit too loose for my 6” wrist), but I fixed it with a rubber strap.

Some did say their movements have some issues but mine works with no problem at all. Indeed, it is within chronometer accuracy even though it isn’t COSC certified.

(Edit: I think I also have to state that I’m thinking of moving on from the Serica, not because I don’t like it, but because I have been wearing my Pelagos 39 much more, and I kinda don’t feel comfortable with the watch sitting in my watch box for so long)

·

The #serica5303 was very likely my most-worn watch of 2023. Excellent proportions, unique styling, and the most comfortable stock bracelet that I own. I very-much plan on picking up a 4512 at some point as well. One of my favorite micro brands, easily.

Got my field model in 2019 and it is still perfect, well maybe a ding or two..

Thanks for sharing 🙂

Love my 5303…and wore the heck out of it last summer…in all conditions. Changed out the stock bracelet though.

With what did you changed it?

·

Forgot to mention that the finishing is slightly disappointing for the price imo. So i was overall disappointed. Just want to share my experience to give you a different perspective 👍

Thank you for sharing.

Good to know also other perspectives.

And your were quite detailed. Thank you for letting me know. I know now what to check in the boutique 🙂

I would love their GMT 🤤🤤

I know. Still fighting. Why there are so many watches and so few wrists? 😄

·

have had mine since Christmas. havent taken it off. It's running consistently -1 spd since I got it.

To me its a stunning watch and I'm never letting it go. The finishing and the design is top notch. Nothing quite like it out there imo.

I also have the desert red GMT ordered so I trust the brand. Communication voa email is always quick.

Tropic rubber strap. Much better. I’ll take a pic and post it soon.

I definitively like this watch and I like they developed their own caliber but I rather “wait and see” before spending £1,490 in a recently born vertically integrated watch…beautiful though!

It makes sense. But I am too impatient 😅
