New Rangemaster Mechanical from TGV and Island Watch - Meh

The new Rangemaster Mechanical has dropped and it's a hard pass from me. It's a Hamilton-style field watch and the dial is just too busy for me. It's got the internal ring of numbers from 13-24 and squeezes in the Island and Urban Gentry logos. My response when I saw the original Rangemaster was 'why aren't you taking my money.' My response to this is 'I'll save my money for a G-Shock.'

I don't want to yuck your yum if you really like this. What do y'all reckon?

Misses the mark for me also.

The first colab was pretty cool. Not so this one.

Borderline hot mess.

Chacon a son gout

Indeed the dial is a bit busy.

I am also concerned if the winding gear is solid enough to handle so much hand winding, since it was designed as an automatic movement. But if it is not used as a daily watch, it will probably have no issues.

My first impression was "too much" on the dial as well. Decided to try it in person and see what I think. The Hamilton Khaki Field is too busy in my opinion as well, but learned to love it in the end. If they left their logos off and made the 24 hr circle smaller font, it would be better aesthetically.

I would have been interested if I had not bought many watches this year already. I think the automatic to mechanical movement is clever (I'm always a little hesitant to wind my Seagull 1963), the mate finish looks great, and the size/thinness is awesome (I like my Lorier Hyperion v2 with the Soprod C125 over the Miyota 9075 because of the 2mm thinner case).

·

I disagree. I ordered one right away and look forward to its attractive utility. How can one smirk at a watch with all these goodies for just over 300 bones?

·

That dial is the end result of people banging on and on about symmetry... It looks off because the 24hr markings are enlarged to match the two logos. Remove or dial down the inner markings and people would complain that it's not "balanced".

If they make it in 40/41mm without the tgv on it I’ll be the first in line.

Congratulations! I agree Marc has the best selection/value/pricing of any brand of equal size. The tgv isn’t for me but I see why it is super desirable.

I can't pull up the website atm, so id guess it's pretty popular

If you like it then I'm glad. Wear it in good health. 😀

Is there a smudge on the dial at 6 position? 😉

I just cracked on one as well and will post here quickly.

I don't get it, what is this watch suppose to be, it certainly doesn't look like a field watch.

probably the worst designed watch I have ever seen

Nobody is forcing anybody here to buy the watch. Their money, their choice. For me personally I bought it for 2 reasons, I like the design and I like the designers, always watch them on YouTube. People even buy the Cartier Crash. In any case, it's sold out anyway. My money, my choice. i'm not rich so this is already a splurge for me. But I love my new Rangemaster. So light and crazy comfy. Next to save up on Jody's Erebus Watch 😀
