Aussie & Kiwi Crunchers: Duty free watches in Sydney airport

Hello to my fellow Australasian Crunchers! I'm headed to Sydney in November and want to get a sense of what watch brands are available duty free in the Sydney airport. Any help you can give will be sincerely appreciated.

Hello. There are Cartier and Rolex stores (though Rolex was closed when I travelled last month).

Outside the Rolex store there is an open area with a bunch of different brands on display: Seiko, Casio/G-Shock, Breitling, Mido, Hamilton, IWC, Longines, Chopard, and a couple of others. These are just the names I can remember.

Hope this helps.

Edit: these are on the departures side.

Duty free is certainly less hassle, I haven't been recently so won't be able to comment further about the airport.

However if you are exiting the airport and staying around Sydney you will have access to boutiques concentrated in the Sydney CBD, particularly around King or Market St. (Rolex, Grand Seiko, Vacheron, Cartier to name a few).

You would need to follow the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) to get your refund at the airport when you leave but it means queueing up when it gets busy and having the item in your carry on and not checked in with your luggage.

Hi

Watches are duty free into Australia.

It is the 10% GST (tax) you can claim back when you leave the country (per earlier advice & link).

Probably better off buying/negotiating price, with a boutique in the CBD as opposed to Duty Free store in the airport.

Good luck
