Ooo interesting idea, you know I got a thing for them 😉

·

Great video.  I own a Max Bill Chronograph and I love it.

Amazing review and I think you are the perfect person to answer one very specific question that I have.

I am looking for a watch that represents the casual aesthetics of the first half of the last century (told you that was specific lol). For now, I have 2 final contenders:

Meister Driver Handaufzug (but the reference 27/3608.00 with cream dial):

Image

And, the Longines Dolce Vita L5.512.4.71.4 (model with quartz movement, it has small seconds at 6, the mechanical version has this terrible flat white date window that breaks the guilloche dial):

Image

I know from your videos that you handled both so, my question for you is, @Max, which one do you prefer?

BTW, if you still have that Dolce Vita, a "serious review" of that watch would be a more than welcome addition to our community. I only found one decent review on youtube but it is in Italian and you have the best storytelling possible for that kind of watch.

Cheers!

Ooo that's a tough one, both at about 1k but very different watches. I think for me I chose the Junghans because it's a independent design. The longines is a copy of the tank Americane. Plus the fact that the quartz dial looks better than the mechanical always bothered me... I eventually sold mine

Thanks for your thoughts, that makes sense. I am more inclined towards the Junghans too.

Great video, after trying on hand wound Max Bill I was looking for sth slightly bigger watch and this one seems a perfect choice! Must try this one on. Thanks a lot!

·

First post; just joined and just finished watching the YouTube video on this one. Nice job on it. Glad they are still able to source 7001s. I didn’t realize the lugs were so short...it definitely makes it more wearable, it seems.

·

I really like the font on that watch, incredible piece overall.

Yeah I had to measure the lug to lug 3 times because I couldn't believe how short it was 😆

·

@Max you're videos will end up costing me. Strong work as usual

·

Just watch your video max. awesome piece!!

·

as usual, a very well-researched and informative review. enjoyed watching it. even though i am not a fan of Junghans, i am now beginning to appreciate it better!

Great video, thanks for pushing German watches and especially Junghans. It was once the biggest watch manufacturer in the world and is still independent. I love that they diversified their collection with staying true to their roots, like with the Form A or Meister Driver. I own two of their Max Bill wall clocks.

Your Meister Driver is a real beauty, it is as clean as it could be and the color scheme is perfect for this kind of watch. It is also very unique, not a rip-off of sth else.

And I share your opinion on Nomos and Junghans.

PS: Handaufzug was almost right :)

·

Great video Max - love the modern Bauhaus design. There is that classic German style.

I have some nice vintage military officers' watches from the 1940s/50s that have that feel. You'd love them because they would definitely suit a smaller wrist size.

Here's a 1940s Dugena Festa with case size of 32mm:

Haha, I did take 3 years of German in highschool. My name was Hans 😂

·

I finally got around to watching your YouTube video on this one. I take back my early comment on the only German watches interesting me being Hanhart and Laco. I like the Junghans Meister Driver quite a bit. Something about the brown dial and car dashboard inspiration that really appeals to me. This Junghans is now the third German Watch to make my watches to keep my eye out for list.

·

That Junghans closely resembles the "Dienstuhr" [service watch] made for the German army during WW2, by varying manufacturers, including Junghans. The main difference is the style of the digits, which is a bit more Art Deco in the modern Junghans than the Art Nouveau style digits of the Dienstuhr.

Thanks for that awesome wallpaper!
