Is the Omega Ruduced a real Speedy?

To me regardless of the some comments I read online saying that the Reduced is not a real Speedy. And I agree it is not the watch that went to the moon but it’s the same with other iterations of Speedmaster. I deliberately bought the Reduced for one reason and one reason only. The size of the Professional is too big for my wrist. What do you think Fam? Thank you 🙏🏻

It says Omega, and Speedmaster on the dial? If so, it's a Speedy. Don't let gatekeepers ruin your appreciation for a watch.

The Speedmaster is an entire line. While it is not a Speedmaster Pro, it is still a Speedmaster.

·

I mean - literally a handful of them actually went to the moon, so who cares?

This debate always reeks of gatekeeping to me, of course your Reduced is a "real" Speedmaster. It's the same manufacturer and the same design language. A modern Submariner is much bigger than one made in the 1950's and it has a different movement, does that mean it's not a real Submariner?

Side note: How do you like your (very real) Reduced? I also have a smaller wrist and have considered getting one as the "Standard Size" is also too big for me, imo.

If I got a Speedy Reduced I wouldn’t give a $h!t3 what others thought of it.

Definitely a Speedmaster! Are the 36mm Explorer and the 40mm Explorer both Rolex Explorers?

Well said @cornfedksboy Thank you👍

I'm just happy it's not made of plastic/'BioCeramic'...

For me, this is a pretty good representation of a speedy, proportions are similar, lugs are true speedy. For purists, the dials are switched around and the alignment of pushers are a bit funky.

It's a closer representation than the FOIS, for example. The FOIS straight lugs are a bit too dainty fo rme.

I have a Swatch that meets those criteria 😂

Buying items because of perceived magical associations is never a recipe for happiness. Luckily, it is all meaningless, so it all can be true. You have a real Speedmaster. It is also a real Rolex, James Bond wore it, it can be worn with a tuxedo, and it will survive hammerblows, fire, and the dishwasher. If you believe it, it is true.

I had and sold a reduced and now own a pro...to answer your question: it has speedmaster written on the dial, so yes it is a speedmaster. 100% agree on size..it is perfect.. makes me regret selling mine (sometimes🤒)

I have a 39mm speedy triple calendar and it’s a great watch. Beautiful sunburst blue dial and unlike the other “reduced”models it has a chrono movement instead of a chrono module. That makes it a little bit easier to service and all of the pushers line up with the crown.

My only complaint is that as my eyes have gotten worse the dial has gotten harder to read. There’s a lot of info crammed into a small dial and that means the hands, indices and printing are all small.

Fit wise I have a 7.5 inch wrist and feel it’s a little bit small. It looks great on my wife’s 6 inch wrist though. I actually posted up a for sale or trade thread about it here a few weeks back.
