I am not a watch collector, but I am sort of a watch hoarder. I have always loved watches and have amassed over 100 watches. They are mostly inexpensi...

How do they do it? A fairly decent copy of a $50,000 JLC for $21.97? And it really is an automatic watch! Not the best automatic watch you can buy, but certainly worth $20.
There is only one good reason to make and sell anything. "Someone is willing to buy it." As long as people are willing to spend vast sums of money for beautifully crafted watches that are LESS accurate than a $20 drug store Timex then someone will be making these wonderful mechanical watches.
They really aren't buying a watch, they are buying status, prestige and cache. Watches aren't like other measuring devices. They are not valued by accuracy. They are valued by craftsmanship, history and exclusivity.

There is no watch you can buy at a department store that you cannot find someplace else selling for half the price. Their "discounted" name brand watches are way overpriced. And even their cheaper fashion watches are just rebadged AliExpress watches selling for three times the AliExpress price. This is why they can routinely have 60% off sales, and still make nice profits.
Of course, the same could be said for everything else they sell. They have been made obsolete by competition from online sellers and same day delivery. And even big box stores like Walmart and Target cannot sell you Casio or Timex watches cheaper than Amazon can.
As long as you don't mind homage watches, Pagani Design offers incredible value. And they are reasonably well made.
You can buy the real thing for $10,000. Or you can buy a high grade replica (counterfeit) watch for $1,000. Or you can buy a homage watch for $30-$300 dollars, and if you plan to get one of those then the Pagani Design offers the most watch for the least money.
The Omega Speedmaster is a very nice watch. It commands a premium price and is probably worth it. But the Swatch "Moonswatch" is really a cheaply made piece of junk that is sold for $300, even though it is probably worth $50 or less.
If you want this style watch, and don't want to spend the $7,000 to $10,000 for real thing, then you could buy the Swatch homage for $300. Or, you could buy a Pagani Design homage for $60, which is a much better watch than the Swatch version.
