Anyone know anything about this watch?

I am not a watch collector, but I am sort of a watch hoarder. I have always loved watches and have amassed over 100 watches. They are mostly inexpensive watches, with maybe five or six really nice watches. I just buy and wear whatever I like at the moment, and will only rarely spend more than $500 for a watch.

Last week I found this old quartz analog watch in a drawer. I put a new battery in it and it runs flawlessly. And now I am curious if anyone has heard of this watch before.

It is actually a pretty nice watch, made from "solid stainless steel" and branded as Guess Steel. The dial is 39mm, and the watch plus bracelet weighs 145 grams. It is a chronograph with three subdials, one for tenths of a second. The case is marked "Japan Movement, 200 meters water resistant" and it has a screw down crown and a screw in back. It also has the number "G130276" on the back. It seems to be very well made.

I think I bought this watch back in the 1990s, so it is probably around 30 years old.

I know Guess is a fashion brand, so they probably don't make their own watches. They just get them from someone else and brand them as theirs. But this watch looks and feels like something much better than a fashion watch.

If anyone knows anything about this watch I would appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks.

As you said, a fashion brand and I would say this is just one of their many variations they had over the years. Had one as well, quality was perfectly oke for me, I would not dig too much and simply enjoy it 😅

It's a guess fashion watch. Made cheaply in Chinese sweat shops and sold for huge profits. Worth about $20.

Great that it runs after all that time and that you are enjoying it. 👍 I remember Guess in the 90s and 2000s going for higher quality, or playing it off that way, so I don't think it is the most basic quartz imaginable. That said, watchsnobs don't like quartz and don't like fashion watches so prepare yourself for that. I think all watches are basically jewelry and therefore fashion. As always buy what you like and enjoy wearing it.
