What watches are “future classics?”

This seems to be an “above the hype” crowd—and from what I know about them, today’s classic grails (the Sub, the 1016, the tank) weren’t grails at the time. Either they were the best you could get for what you paid, or they were high quality or they were pioneering…

…so with that in mind, what watches of today would you say are the classics of tomorrow (or 25 years from now)? I think the Seamaster 300m is well on its way. Thoughts?

Hard to tell, tastes come and go. IE, see any AP or Patek in terms of what falls in and out of style. Also, how are we defining classic? Putting aside the obvious Rolex models, I think the Lange One is the easiest to pick, hype or not. It is a beautiful watch and magnificent piece of micro-engineering that more than any other watch, put Glashütte in the discussion with best of Geneve.  Others:
- OG BB 58
- Snowflake
- 45th Snoopy (probably already there)
- VC Overseas Dual Time
- I think the odd one-off stuff; Dornbluth, Habring, Grönefeld for example

I would also add the H Moser streamliner.

Garmin Fenix

Casio GSW-H1000

The collectible watches today were worn and used in the past by adventurers, explorers, scientists... people doing interesting things.  People doing interesting things today are wearing G-Schocks and smart watches.

Most iconic watches have an interesting origin story or are attached to some form of adventure archetype or incorporate an interesting, original design language. With this, I think the Octo Finissimo, Pelagos, Overseas ( if not already) and Casioak could be candidates.

Really interesting way to think about it!

I'm going to hazard a guess that the FXD is going to be a future classic, that is assuming watch collecting as a hobby lasts 25 more years. Its the first time tudor has partnered with the French Navy in a number of years so its got that going for it

The Seiko Flightmaster seems well on its way toward legend status.
